S’more App Review – The Easiest $50+ Per Year In Passive Income
If you've been reading WebMonkey for a while, you know any form of easy and free money or various passive income apps are my favorite.
I've been dabbling with cashback apps and the general world of beermoney for a while now. From phone farming to figuring out ways to make passive income as a student, this space is just one I enjoy.
Now, if you're a regular reader of the sorts of posts I just mentioned, you'll also know that I'm a massive fan of the S'more app.
In my opinion, the S'more lockscreen app is pretty much the easiest and free $35-$50+ per year you can ever find.
If you want to learn how to use S'more to earn free gift cards and beef up your passive income game, be sure to read my S'more app review until the end!

What Is The S'more App?
S'more is a lockscreen app for Android devices that has more than 1 million downloads and an average rating of 3.2 stars.
The concept behind the S'more app is pretty simple. By transforming your phone's lockscreen into an area that promotes sponsored content from different advertisers or media sources, S'more makes money.
In return for altering your lockscreen, S'more then passes on some of the earnings to you.
I've used the S'more app for a while over the years. And overall, it's a pretty simple money-making app and a nice passive income side hustle anyone can try out.
Just note that S'more is only available in the United States and for Android phones so please keep this in mind! You must also be 13 years or older to use S'more.
This simple system makes the S'more app an incredibly low-effort way to earn passive income just for unlocking your phone every day.
There are some nuances and tips for using this app we're going to get into for this S'more app review, but that's the basic concept right there.
How Does The S'mores App Work?
I downloaded S'more and used it for a few months to try it out for this review. Overall, the app is super simple to start using.
When you install the S'more app, there are a few immediate ways to start making money. Keep in mind that 1 S'more point is worth $0.01.
Here are the early signup bonuses you can easily score:
- Install S'more – This pays 50 S'more points ($0.50).
- Add a Referral Code – Sign up with your friends and use someone's referral code to pay each of you 25 bonus points.
- Confirm Email – Verify your email with the S'more app to earn 10 points.
- Add Basic Info – Add your gender, name, phone number, and enable location services for an extra 45 points.
Just by taking these steps, you can start your S'more account with $1.25 worth of points in your account.
There are also three other ways to make money with the S'more app, so let's dive into how this app works and the different ways to earn rewards.
1. Unlock Your Phone
The main way to make money with the S'mores app is by unlocking your phone at least once a day.
This pays $0.10, or 10 points, and you don't actually have to engage with the ads on your screen or do any work.
It truly is that simple. I run S'more on a spare phone with a bunch of other passive income apps like Embee Meter and MobileXpression, and it's a nice part of my little passive income setup.
On my really old Android devices, I've found that the S'mores lockscreen can be a bit laggy or cause some delays, but it's not very noticeable.
And again, you only have to unlock your phone once to earn rewards, and you don't have to interact with any of the ads.
2. Answer Surveys
Another way to make money with the S'mores app is to answer in-app surveys.
S'mores pushes paid surveys your way fairly frequently, and surveys often pay $0.10 to $1 extra for your time.
However, it can take several minutes to 10 minutes or more to complete a survey, and in my opinion, it's not really worth the effort.
If you want to answer surveys for money, sites like Survey Junkie or websites like Prolific pay more and are better options than the S'mores app.
3. Watch Videos & Ads
Another passive earning option for S'mores is to watch videos and ads.
In the “Video” section of the S'mores app, you can start watching videos on your phone. S'more pays 1 point for every 2 short videos/ads you view.
This works out to $0.01 for every two videos and ads you view, so this is a very slow way to earn money. But, if you're close to cashing out, you can turn this video feature on to score some easy money.
I think reward websites like Swagbucks and Grindabuck have better video rewards. But I like that S'mores still lets you earn some easy passive income.
And, it basically lets you make money on autopilot just by letting ads play in the background.

4. Complete Offers
A new S'mores feature is the option to download certain apps or to shop and complete cash-back offers to earn extra cash with S'mores.
If you've used shopping portals on gpt websites like Swagbucks before or shop online with Rakuten, this will feel very familiar.
Honestly, this section still needs some work, and you won't find a ton of offers to complete. And, for the ones you find, I'd still shop through Rakuten or other websites first.
You can also read our post on apps that pay you to play games for a better list of apps that pay you for downloading and trying exciting games!
5. Refer Friends
One final way to earn is to use S'mores referral program.
You get 25 points for every person who signs up for S'mores with your referral code. Granted, this isn't much extra cash, but if you want an easy $0.25, send your referral code to some friends so you can all try out the app!
Is S'more Legit?
Yes, S'more is a legit app and pays users for unlocking their phones and completing surveys. There is plenty of payment proof online, and it's a very popular app in the Reddit beermoney community.
You won't make a fortune with this app, or any rewards app for that matter.
But, as long as you live in the U.S. and unlock your phone, S'more is legit and the app will pay you. And when I tested out the app, it paid me every day and on time.
How Much Does The S'more App Pay?
If you do the absolute bare minimum, running S'more on your phone will earn $36.50 per year assuming you unlock your device each day (realistically, we all do this).
If you add some basic profile information, refer a few users, and run videos in passive mode, it's definitely possible to reach at least $50 per year with this app.
If you tack on Embee Meter, which is another easy $36.50 per year, and MobileXpression, which can put up around $50 when working properly, it's not a bad setup for an old Android burner phone you might have laying around.
I don't like using apps like S'more on my main phone since the idea of sharing my location 24/7 is a bit against my slight tinfoil hat nature, but you don't necessarily need a burner phone for this.
Plus, S'more also makes it a bit more bearable if you use this app on your main phone.
You can actually add up to five of your favorite apps to your lockscreen, letting you quickly access things like your messaging app or Gmail.
S'mores Reward Options & Cashing Out
A lot of passive income apps or reward apps have ridiculously high thresholds.
As I discovered in my paid survey disaster, plenty of websites have cashout thresholds of $20 or even $30…good luck ever seeing your money.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6cCosbcHpI
According to S'more, you need to have S'more installed for at least 10 days and earn at least 150 points to cash out the first time. Once you do that, you can start cashing out anytime you have 100 points or more.
In terms of rewards, S'mores lets you redeem free gift cards to the following retailers:
Occasionally, you can even redeem Google Play credit if S'more offers it, making this another easy way to get free Google Play credit without much effort.
Cashing out is done via the app. Note that you must verify a U.S. phone number to cashout with S'more to prove you are in the U.S.
Apps like S'more or Fetch Rewards have some of the lowest cashout limits out of any reward app, which is probably the best feature this app has going for it.
A lack of free PayPal money is a downside for S'mores. But the low cashout requirement and extensive list of gift cards are bonuses.

Other S'more App Reviews
When you look at S'more reviews on Reddit, you generally find a common theme: S'more is great for earning points with unlocks, but surveys suck:
However, the rest of the feedback is generally quite positive. Plus, tonnes of other lockscreen apps have been shut down or simply aren't worth your time anymore.
Now, S'more was playing around with upping their redemption threshold recently, but they quickly moved the limit back to $1 after some community feedback:
Again, this change was reverted, but it'll be interesting to see what happens over the next few months for this rewards app.
Update: 2020/09/22 – It seems like S`more now has a minimum payout threshold of $3 based on what most users are reporting on Reddit Beermoney:
This is actually a great change for users who had their threshold increased to $5 because you can now reliably redeem one free gift card per month.
This S'more app review from YouTuber Tech Hustler also provides a great overview of how the app works and how much money you can make:
In his video, Tech Hustler explains all of the earning options with this app, how it compares to other passive income apps, and how much money you can ultimately make.
Pros & Cons
S'more App Pros:
- Completely passive earnings
- Earn $36.50 per year just for unlocking your smartphone
- Variety of gift card rewards
- Other earning options if you want to earn more gift cards
- Low cash out requirement
S'more App Cons:
- Only available in the United States
- You can't redeem points for PayPal cash
- S'mores is only available for Androids
- No sign-up bonus
Ultimately, I think S'mores is one of the most reliable, passive ways to earn free gift cards as long as you don't mind having ads on your lockscreen.
The fact you don't have to interact with ads to earn is also a massive plus in my opinion. However, you won't get rich with this beermoney app, unsurprisingly.
Other Apps Like S'more
If you're looking for some S'more app alternatives to earn more passive income, unfortunately, there aren't many lockscreen apps left.
Google has actually gotten rid of most of the old lockscreen apps like Slidejoy and others, so S'mores is the best lockscreen app that pays.
That being said, some of the best S'mores apps alternatives you can use to earn passive income include:
- Nielsen Mobile Panel (earn up to $50 per year)
- Mobile Performance Meter (earn around $0.10 per day)
- Honeygain (lets you sell your internet bandwidth for passive income)
- MobileXpression (earn a few dollars per month)
- Bumped (earn free stock from your favorite companies)
- Pei (earn free Bitcoin or cash back for shopping)
- Upvoice (earn free gift cards for browsing the web)
- Panel app (earn $1 per month in free gift cards for sharing your data)
- Cash Magnet (earn $15 per month with your phone by turning it into an autosurfing device)
I also made a video that shares some of my favorite passive income apps and sites you can use instead of S'mores.
Honestly, none of these apps like S'more will make you rich or significantly boost your monthly income. But, if you want to make money with your smartphone without much effort, all of these apps can help you easily earn rewards!
You can also explore other easy ways to make money online, like using microtask websites or reward apps like Fetch Rewards to snag some easy cash.

Is S'mores A Scam?
After using S'mores personally while living in Florida for several months, I can tell you that this app is legit and not a scam. S'mores regularly pays you $0.10 per day for unlocking your phone just like the company advertises.
You can also watch videos or answer surveys for extra cash, although I don't like these methods.
There's plenty of payment proof online and positive S'mores app reviews as well, so I think this is a reliable way to earn some free gift cards in your spare time.
So, if you have an Android and don't mind ads on your lockscreen, the S'mores app is for you!
If you have an iPhone, live outside the United States, or don't want ads on your phone, skip this app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Have To Interact With Ads To Earn Points With S'more?
Again, as long as you unlock your phone once per day, you earn points. There is no interaction requirement at all, and viewing more ads doesn't influence your earnings.
Does S'more Drain Your Battery?
S'more states they have optimized their app to prevent it from significantly impacting your battery life.
I've run this app on-and-off over the years (pretty much whenever I'm living in Florida). I don't notice anything significant in terms of drain, but it's an extra app taking up space and using some of your battery life.
Truly, the main problem people have with this app is if they mind ads on their lockscreen or not.
How Much Does S'mores Pay?
The S'mores app pays you $0.10 per day for unlocking your phone.
You can also answer surveys or watch videos to earn additional cash, but if you only want passive earnings, you're looking at a max of $0.10 per day as long as you unlock your smartphone at least once.
Who Can Use This App?
You have to live in the United States and have an Android device to use the S'mores app. Additionally, you have to be 13 or older to download and use S'mores.

Final Thoughts
I know a lot of content on WebMonkey focuses on more ‘impactful' side hustles or ways to make money online…things like making $50 a day or gig economy jobs that pay.
But, for some weird reason, I'm always going to have a soft spot for these simple apps that are just good for making some extra beermoney.
Apps like S'more made up a big part of my college money-making experiments, and I'm just fond of them.
I mean, there's just something I enjoy about meticulously tracking all of these different points and rewards each month, and hey, some free gift cards never hurt anyone!
Of course, the S'mores app will not make a substantial impact on your finances.
But, if you use a variety of passive income apps to stock up on Amazon gift cards throughout the year, you can put the money towards treating yourself or chipping away at Christmas gifts or something similar.
I hope this S'more app review has helped clarify what to expect when downloading this app.
