What Is The Premise App?
The Premise app is a free gig app that's available on Android and IOS that lets you earn rewards for completing short tasks in your city and answering surveys.
The company began in 2012 in Seattle, Washington, and was founded by David Soloff and Joseph Reisinger.
Currently, the Premise app has nearly 100,000 reviews on the Google Play Store and iOS store, with many 3 to 5 star ratings. The app is a sort of a mix between mystery shopping apps like Gigwalk, various reward apps, and paid survey sites.
Overall, if you're looking for a fun side hustle idea to make money by completing tasks in your city, the Premise app could be for you.
Is Premise Legit?
Yes, Premise is legit and pays users for completing tasks and answering surveys. It has over 100,000 positive reviews on the Google Play Store and over 5,500 reviews on the Apple App Store with a 4.4 star rating:
The main thing to note is that this app is just a nice way to make some quick money in your spare time. It's not a replacement for your full-time job or serious earner. If you’re okay with that, then the Premise app is definitely legit and a fun side hustle.

When you register for the app, all you need is an email and password to create an account. You can also choose to sign up directly through Google or Facebook.
2. Complete Your Profile
Similar to most gpt sites, you complete your Premise Data profile after signing up to get more relevant surveys and gig opportunities.
Information you enter to complete your profile includes your:
- Age
- Religion
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- Employment status
Make sure you answer these honestly to avoid getting kicked off the app. Plus, accurate answers can help you get even more tasks so you make more money overall.
3. Complete Locate Tasks
One of the main tasks you can complete with Premise are Locate tasks.
These tasks ask you to locate a product or specific location like the name suggests. For example, Premise might ask you to find a specific cereal at a grocery store and fill out information on the process. You can see in my screenshot below that some of my locate tasks pay $1 to $10:
Some of the information you fill out on the Premise App includes:
- The name of the product
- A picture of a product or place
- A video of a product or place
- Answering specifics about an item
- Scanning barcodes of items
Locate tasks usually take around 5-10 minutes to complete and pay around $0.50 – $1 for each task. In certain cases, these tasks can take a bit longer but will also pay out up to $10 when completed.
This isn't a massive amount of money, but if you're in the general area anyway or are already shopping at a store with a Locate tasks, this is basically free money. Apps like Gigwalk and Field Agent have similar tasks, so this is the secret shopper type work you can find on the app.
4. Complete Exploration Tasks
Exploration tasks are longer tasks than Explore tasks and require answering questions at a certain location. For example, the Premise app might ask you to go to a specific aisle in a grocery store or a gas station to take pictures of certain products.
As you can see in my app screenshot above, Premise has some exploration tasks that pay $8 for checking out the amenities at some local fuel stations.
While it might seem really easy, the Premise app asks for a lot of photos and answers that need to be clear and precise. The big differences between Locate tasks and Exploration tasks is the amount of time they take and the amount of questions you need to answer.
Because Exploration tasks take much longer than locate tasks, they tend to pay out way more. Expect earning around $5 for 20-30 minutes of work.
Some users report earning up to $20 with exploration tasks, so this can be a decent way to make some quick money.
5. Complete Training Tasks
Training tasks are unpaid tasks that teach you a new skill about how to use the Premise app. These skills can be anything from taking proper photos to completing training for a higher paying location-based task.
Training tasks helps you unlock more paid tasks in the future which can end up making you more money in the long run. So, if you're serious about earning free PayPal money and Bitcoin rewards with Premise, these Training tasks are worth doing.
6. Answer Premise Surveys
While tasks are still the best for earnings, surveys can help you maximize your earning potential and cash out more quickly.
Usually, surveys are multiple choice questions that don't require much effort at all. Plus, you can answer questions within the app to make money on the go.
Premise surveys usually take about 3 to minutes to complete and pay between $0.05 – $0.10 per survey.
This definitely isn't the highest paying survey company out there. But again, surveys only take a minute or two to complete so it's easy money.
Cashing Out With Premise & Rewards
Premise lets you cash out with Payoneer, PayPal, Coinbase, and mobile top-up. The minimum cash out requirement is $10 in the United States but varies depending on where you live.
Coinbase and Payoneer let you cash out for $15 and $20, respectively. The Mobile Top-up option has a minimum withdrawal of $6.50. Also note that free gift cards aren't available at this time.
According to Premise, the cash out process only takes a few minutes, and earnings should arrive in about 30 minutes or less. If you don't receive payment within 72 hours, contact Premise's customer support through the app so they can look into the issue.
How Much Does Premise Pay?
How much you make with Premise largely depends on where you live and the types of tasks you complete. If you live in a major city, you can probably make around $5 per day or $150 per month on average if you put in the effort.
According to Premise, it's paid out millions of dollars in rewards to members, and over $1 million in free Bitcoin! Just note that some days, you might earn $0 while other days you might make a quick $20 to $50 or more.
Also note that competition with other Premise Data users impacts your earnings. If there are a lot of jobs and not many people taking them, you can make money consistently with this app.
The Premise pay isn’t enough to live off of, but it can definitely help pay for utilities or a lunch a few times a week.

Other Premise App Reviews
After trying out Premise, I think it's a legit and fun mystery shopping company that also has some more unique earning options.
But one of the best ways to know if Premise is legit is by seeing what other users have to say about the app. Here's what some other Premise app users are saying on Reddit about their experience:
- Mybackpackismypillow says: “I can generally get 20+ price monitoring tasks per day that I can find at my closest grocery/supermarket. Might vary by location, how many users, etc.”
- ChocoKid says: “I can earn more than $30 per day just by doing price monitor tasks. If other random tasks came up such as take picture of construction/ hiring sign/ home for sell/ rent/ food truck/ graffiti/ park/ etc, I can earn up to $40-$50 per day”
As you can see, users are pretty happy with the pay and features that are offered on Premise. However, note that $30-$40 per day doesn’t seem to be an average. It’s more of a once a month kind of thing, so don’t expect to make that much immediately.
Overall, most Premise reviews are quite positive, so this is a positive sign for this money-making app.
Pros & Cons
Pros:

Final Thoughts
It’s not often that task rewards apps and survey sites offer rewards this high and this consistent. And I like that you can earn free money without answering surveys by using Premise since it pays you to explore your city instead.
With that being said, Premise isn't going to replace your day job. It might be able to pay for some groceries, utilities, or other minor expenses.
So, if you see yourself going out to complete tasks often and think the pay looks promising, then definitely consider the Premise app to make some extra cash.
