One of the most popular apps in this space is PlaySpot, a gaming rewards platform with over 10 million downloads that lets you earn prizes for playing new mobile games.

But, is PlaySpot legit? And, is this gaming rewards app actually a decent side hustle idea that's worth your time?

If you've tried other gaming reward apps like Mistplay or Coin Pop, the entire premise should be familiar.

The entire idea of the PlaySpot app is to let you make money playing video games by paying you with coins for downloading and trying new mobile apps.

With the coins you earn, you can redeem a variety of cash and gift card prizes, and PlaySpot makes money from app developers who are willing to pay to get new players.

Overall, this sounds like a win-win scenario, but let's cover how the PlaySpot app works in greater detail.

Is PlaySpot Legit?

Yes, PlaySpot is legit and pays you with free gift cards and PayPal money for trying different games. It has a 4.3 star review on the Google PlayStore with over 570,000 reviews. However, the app doesn't pay very much, so it's just a fun side hustle and not a serious money-making app.

I don't think this is the highest-paying mobile gaming rewards platform. Apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play are a bit better for example.

Additionally, many users have trouble cashing out, so my recommendation is to try other gaming apps first and not to sink too much time into PlaySpot until you know you can cash out.

But, you can earn rewards with this gaming app, although you won't make $100 a day or anything even close to that amount.

How Does PlaySpot Work?

I tested out PlaySpot to learn how the app works for this review, and it's a nice way to make money online as a beginner. Overall, the app works in five simple steps like other gaming apps:

1. Download the app
2. Play new mobile games
3. Watch videos
4. Complete offers
5. Cash out

Let's examine each step in a bit more detail.

1. Download The App

The PlaySpot app is free and is available on the Google Play store.

Currently, you need a phone that's Android 5.0 or higher to download PlaySpot.

Unfortunately, PlaySpot doesn't have a paid iOS gaming app. But this is pretty common in the world of gaming reward apps since the Apple Store doesn't allow these sorts of apps on its platform.

2. Play New Mobile Games

When you download PlaySpot, you immediately login when you first open the app, which honestly surprised me. There wasn't a step to create an account or any prompt to sign in.

Once you're on the PlaySpot app dashboard, you see a list of different mobile games you can download and play to start earning coins.

The games I can currently download include:

• Cookie Jelly Match
• Treasure Quest
• Bubble Cash
• Raccoon Bubbles
• Solitaire Cash
• Zen Puzzle
• Trivia Million
• Word Cooking – Word Puzzle
• Hexagon Match
• Idle Emojis

This isn't a huge selection of games, and apps like Flash Rewards and AppStation typically have more offerings.

As for PlaySpot game genres, you can mostly download puzzle, card, and arcade games, so there's an unfortunate lack of strategy games.

Games also don't display how many coins you earn for downloading and playing them, which is another downside in my opinion since you don't know which games pay the most.

In any case, I decided to test out the PlaySpot app's earning potential, so I downloaded Raccoon Bubbles and began playing.

I played a few levels of the surprisngly difficult bubble game, and I ended up earning 7 coins for PlaySpot.

PlaySpot popped up with a mini notification while I was playing Racoon Bubbles that I had earned 7 coins, but it didn't give me any additional info on when the next time I'd earn coins would be.

I'll get into the earning potential later on in this PlaySpot app review, but just know that 7 coins is barely anything, so this is a pretty bad sign.

3. Watch Videos

Another way to earn coins with PlaySpot is to watch videos and advertisements. This is a popular earning option for many GPT websites and apps, and PlaySpot isn't very unique here.

You basically watch 30 second videos for other gaming apps or products, so it's essentially watching ads to get paid.

You earn 200 coins for the first video you watch and two coins for every other video afterwards.

You also have to wait two to three minutes between watching videos, so you can't do this on repeat forever.

Honestly, there are way better passive income apps out there like Mobile Performance Meter, Cash Magnet, and the S'mores lockscreen app, so I don't think PlaySpot's video rewards section is very lucrative.

4. Complete Offers

The final way to make money with PlaySpot is to complete in-app offers. This is similar to downloading new mobile games, except you get paid to download apps and complete a specific task.

For example, here are some of the PlaySpot offers that are available to me:

• Bingo Frenzy: Reach level 50 and earn 2,953 coins.
• Drop: Complete a shopping offer on Drop and earn 5,678 coins.
• Coin Master: Complete your third village for 2,498 coins.
• Solitaire Cube: Win 10 Solitaire games and earn 568 coins.
• Club Vegas 2021: Complete level 80 and earn 11,357 coins.
• Coin Pusher: Open the app and earn 136 coins.

These offers are definitely more lucrative, but there's also a bit of a catch. Most of the games in PlaySpot's offer section require spending money or some serious grinding to reach the reward requirement.

Plus, there are a lot of card and betting games in general, so if you don't spend money on mobile games, this isn't very useful.

Granted, offers like shopping through the Drop app are pretty decent since Drop is one of my favorite reward apps and is an app everyone should use anyway in my opinion.

However, for the most part, I find the offer section somewhat underwhelming for PlaySpot.

5. Cash Out

PlaySpot rewards include PayPal cash, free Amazon gift cards, and Google Play credit.

As for redemption minimums, PlaySpot is actually fairly competitive with other gaming reward apps:

• PayPal: Starts at $5 rewards for 5,000 PlaySpot coins.
• Amazon Gift Cards: Starts at $5 rewards for 5,000 PlaySpot coins.
• Google Play Credit: Starts at $25 rewards for 28,500 coins.

PayPal and Amazon are definitely the best reward options, but it's worth mentioning you get a slight discount if you save up your coins.

For example, a free $50 PayPal or Amazon reward costs 47,500, saving you 2,500 coins in value.

I don't think this is enough of a discount to warrant saving your coins, especially since gaming apps are notorious for false bans or having your coins disappear, so keep this risk in mind.

Other PlaySpot App Reviews

I tested out PlaySpot, and overall, it seems like a legit but low-paying gaming rewards app. And I personally prefer using Rewarded Play and Mistplay instead of this app.

But one good way to tell if PlaySpot is legit or not is to see what other app users say about the app. And, if you look at various PlaySpot reviews on Reddit, you find quite a bit of mixed feedback.

For example, in this Reddit thread, here's what some users say about their experience with PlaySpot:

• Treyman1115 says: “I never could even get to the cash out. They neutered my earnings too hard. Still have like 18000 points sitting there.”

So, the way to keep earning coins is to keep on downloading and playing new games, so if you don't like playing a variety of games, you actually won't have a lot of fun with PlaySpot.

Personally, I don't think the PlaySpot app is one of the best gaming reward platforms out there.

This is a fair better use of your time if you want to maximize your income versus using apps like PlaySpot, so keep this in mind!
