I Tried Making Money With Opinion Edge – Here’s What Happened
Opinion Edge is a popular survey site where you can get paid for sharing your opinions about popular topics. So, I signed up for Opinion Edge to learn how it works and to see how much it pays versus other popular survey sites.
But after testing out Opinion Edge, I can confidently say it's not my favorite way to make money with surveys. A high cash out minimum for new users is the main downside. Survey rates are somewhat competitive, but not the highest I've seen either.
Overall, you can try Opinion Edge if you're looking for more survey sites to add to your roster. But the WebMonkey team thinks there are many superior sites out there, which I'll also cover in this review.
Our Key Takeaways:
- Opinion Edge is a free survey site that's available in North America and Europe
- It lets you answer surveys and cash out with PayPal or gift cards
- In our testing, most surveys paid $0.25 to $1 and took about 20 minutes to complete
- This gives Opinion Edge a rough hourly pay rate of $1 to $3
- New users need $15 to cash out, which is high for the world of paid surveys
- Opinion Edge's UI is decent, but we found that disqualifications from surveys happened frequently
What Is Opinion Edge & What Does It Offer?
Opinion Edge is a new cash survey site that’s available in English-speaking countries and certain others in the EU, with plans to continue expanding. And it's similar to competitors like Branded Surveys and Survey Junkie where you share your opinion to earn points.
Signing up is free and only takes your email. But one of the first things you’ll want to do is answer the profile questions. Answering these basic demographic questions will help Opinion Edge match you up with the best surveys.
The My Surveys tab then shows you all available surveys, along with how many points you earn, and the average time for taking each survey. In our test, most surveys paid 25 to 100 points, which is worth $0.25 to $1. The average time estimate for a survey was about 15 minutes:
Some surveys have preliminary qualifying questions. One thing that sets Opinion Edge apart from other survey sites is that you can still get awarded between 2 and 10 points for surveys you don’t qualify for. However, I found that the disqualification was a bit high, and I got screened out of about 30% of surveys pretty quickly.
It takes a little bit of basic math and some practice, but after a while, you can gauge which surveys to ignore, and which ones to plunge into. For instance, we saw a survey paying 143 points for 18 minutes of work. That certainly seems more lucrative than 56 points for 4 minutes. But a deeper dive will tell you the first survey earns 8 points per minute, while the other one earns nearly twice as much, at 14. Over time, taking surveys with a larger amount of points-per-minute (PPM) will be far more lucrative than taking “better paying” surveys that take much longer.
You can also get 20 points for every referral. There is a referral tab with a unique survey link you can email, text, or post on your social media profiles. I'm not so crazy about this referral program because the reward is extremely low, there are no tiers, and it’s a one-and-done payout (as opposed to a lifetime percentage).
Surveys and referral bonuses are the only way to earn with Opinion Edge. If you're looking for cash games and shopping offers, I suggest using something like Freecash or Scrambly.io instead.

Is Opinion Edge Legit?
There’s not much to go by in terms of online reviews. Opinion Edge only has 11 reviews on TrustPilot, and a very mediocre score of 3.2 stars. Reviewers called it a “slow site” and a “very bad site.” Overall, we think Opinion Edge is legit, but we don't recommend it for making money with surveys due to high cash out minimums and poor online reviews.
Things aren’t much better over in the App Store, where Opinion Edge has 5 reviews and a very poor 1.8-star rating. Perhaps Android users are getting more exposure to the app because in the Google Play store, it had 305 reviews. It also had a ho-hum review average of 3.1 stars.
Upon closer inspection, the reviews were extremely polarized between five and one stars, with few opinions in between. This is significant because it tells us that the “average” wasn’t pulled down by a mixed bag of lukewarm reviews (e.g. 2-4 stars). Rather, it was pulled down by people who absolutely hated the app.
Moreover, the fact that these irate reviews were so oddly balanced out by five-star reviews makes us wonder if Opinion Edge wasn’t trying to flood the ratings with some purchased feedback.
Certain five-star reviews were suspiciously literary: “this app has completely revolutionized how I approach surveys.” Okay then…at least developer Unimrkt took time to respond to negative feedback.
Again, there are plenty of other gpt sites we recommend over Opinion Edge. But let's dive into how much it pays and how you can cash out.
How Much Does Opinion Edge Pay? – What I Found
On Opinion Edge, one point is worth one cent, so it takes 100 points to earn $1. Like I mentioned, most of the surveys we completed and on our dashboard pay around $0.25 to $1. You can sometimes find surveys in the $2 range, but this is less common.
However, since the disqualification rate is quite high, your hourly pay isn't great. At least, this was my experience. And I've earned more per hour with sites like Prime Opinion or Five Surveys where I have a much lower disqualification rate.
Overall, I'd expect about $1 to $3 per hour at most from Opinion Edge, provided you have enough surveys to answer.
Cashing Out & Rewards
Opinion Edge lets you cash out with PayPal money or a wide range of gift card rewards. Gift cards are provided by TangoChoice, which offers hundreds of different gift cards, but the exact options depend on your home country.
However, cash out minimums depend on what level your account is. As your levels increase, you pick up the ability to cash out “sooner” with lower payout thresholds:
- Level one: start redemptions at 1500 points ($15)
- Level two: start redemptions at 1000 points ($10)
- Level three: start redemptions at 500 points ($5)
There are no explicit requirements for leveling up, for better or worse. You can get bumped up based on the number of surveys you take and the quality of those surveys (we suppose this might include long-form answers, not missing any of those “trick” questions they throw in to foil bots, and perhaps time spent).
The downside to this flexible upgrading is that it’s not transparent. Plus, you don’t get “more” for leveling up, like bonus cash or boosted survey rates. With Opinion Edge, you just get lower cashout thresholds. We don’t find this to be a huge selling point other than the fact you can get paid “sooner.”

Pros & Cons

- Wide variety of rewards
- Available in several countries

Cons:
- High cash out minimums

The Best Sites Like Opinion Edge I Recommend Using
There are plenty of other sites like Opinion Edge that I recommend using instead. This is mostly because they pay more and let you cash out faster If you aren’t able to sign up (because of too many other signups in your area) you could try sites like:
I also made a video wrapping up some of my favorite survey sites for 2025. These are higher-paying options than Opinion Edge. I've cashed out with all of them too and can confirm they're legit and they pay.
Who Can Sign Up?
Opinion Edge is available in English-speaking countries, the EU, and select other places. There are plans to expand to other regions soon. However, as mentioned, if too many people in your state or zip code have already signed up, you won’t be able to. This is a huge drawback that will hopefully go away as Opinion Edge grows and brings in more surveys.

Is There Customer Support?
This is one area where Opinion Edge has taken a lot of beatings. There is email-based support, but numerous people have complained about a lack of responsiveness. As Opinion Edge is a relatively new site, we feel they should get the benefit of the doubt until app store reviews surpass at least a few hundred reviews.
Is Opinion Edge Worth It? – My Final Opinion
After testing out Opinion Edge, the team at WebMonkey doesn't think this site is worth signing up for. Survey rates are somewhat competitive. But there's no point in using a site with such a high cash out minimum when top sites let you cash out at $1 to $5.
I also got disqualified a lot with my testing of Opinion Edge. For these two reasons, I'd probably stick with some other survey sites instead.
