15+ Legitimate Jobs That Make $2,000 A Month
It doesn't matter if you're looking for a part-time income source or even full-time employment: making $2,000 a month is a very reasonable goal.
In fact, in most parts of the world, $2,000 per month is more than the average GDP per capita.
So today, I'm cover over 15 jobs that pay $2,000 a month or even more in some cases. And many of these jobs are perfect for beginners and can even be done part-time!
If this is your financial goal, it's time to break down the best jobs that pay $2,000 a month to help you on your employment search!
The Best Jobs That Pay $2,000 A Month
Some of the ideas in this post involve making money online while others are in-person side hustles. Hopefully, one of the job ideas on this list helps you figure out how to make $2,000 a month.
1. Blogging & YouTube
I'm starting out with blogging and YouTube for two reasons.
Firstly, I think this is an excellent side hustle you can nurture on the side of your day job and slowly work your way up to $2,000 a month (or more).
Secondly, I'm adding this idea to the list because WebMonkey currently makes around $20,000 per month, which just goes to show the income potential of this type of business.
Most of this blogging income comes from Mediavine ads and various affiliate programs I'm a part of. Mediavine alone can earn $500 a day, and much of this is completely autopilot income from posts I wrote years ago.
I also started a YouTube channel this year, and in 2020, the channel made just shy of $4,000. These days, it's over 15,000 subscribers and makes about $50 a day in advertisement revenue.
All of this proves that you can make money on YouTube and turn a blog into an income stream if you put in the work and have patience.
It's definitely taken a while to get these two sources up to $2,000 a month, but they also have an immensely high income ceiling, so I think the potential alone makes this worth considering.
2. Food Delivery Jobs
When it comes to gig economy apps, it's hard to beat food delivery for your hourly rate and the sheer earning potential.
In recent years, the world of food and grocery delivery companies has expanded rapidly. This inherently means there's a lot of money-making potential from the courier side.
Some popular food delivery jobs include:
There's a bit of a learning curve to any delivery job since you need to learn which orders are worth it and what areas of your city are the busiest. However, my friend Grant actually delivers for Uber Eats and DoorDash as a bike courier, and he makes a very solid hourly rate:
Plus, the barriers to entry are fairly low. In fact, most delivery companies let you work for them if you have a functional vehicle, are 18 or older, don't have a criminal record, and have insurance.
As mentioned, some markets also let you deliver via bike or scooter in case you don't have a vehicle. And yes, food delivery is a job that pays $2,00 a month if you put in enough hours.

3. Freelance Online
Another viable job to make $2,000 per month is to turn to freelancing work. And I know this is a viable option because I quit my job last year, became a full-time freelance writer, moved to Colombia for a bit, and have since figured out how this all sorta works:
In reality, it's never been more feasible to sell your skills online. Of course, the internet is a competitive place and you need to know what you're doing. Plus, finding your first clients can take time and practice.
However, freelance writing isn't your only option here. Other popular freelancing industries and jobs include:
- Programming
- Social media marketing
- Paid advertising (I still do this and did this since college to make extra cash)
- Virtual assistant work
- Editing and proofreading
- Graphic design
- Data analysis
- General digital marketing jobs
- Accounting and bookkeeping
- Website design
And as you can see from the graph below, many freelancing gigs average $20 to $30 per hour or so. This means making $2,000 per month is pretty realistic if you land enough clients. In fact, almost all of these jobs can make $2,000 per a month if you land around 20 to 30 hours of work per week.
Of course, more experienced freelancers can make even more, but like I mentioned, it takes time to learn the skills you need and how to pitch clients.

4. Other Gig Jobs
Jobs that make $2,000 a month don't just include food delivery when it comes to the gig economy. In fact, there's several other lucrative categories of side gig apps you can look into to boost your income.
Some popular categories include:
- Driving apps that pay like Uber or Lyft
- Apps that pay you to help people move, like Bellhop
- Apps like TaskRabbit that pay you for completing odd jobs around you city
- Companies that pay you being a handyman, like Handy Pro
- Dog walking and sitting apps like Rover
- Delivering packages for gigs like Walmart Spark
The main draw of the gig economy is that it's flexible, so it's ideal if you just want a side job while holding down other employment. Just remember to track your earnings and to put some aside for taxes!
Also, if you're driving for your gig work, I suggest using the Everlance app. It helps you automatically track mileage and expenses so you're ready for tax season.
5. Sell Things Online
Alright, while this isn't exactly a job that pays $2,000 per month, it's kinda like blogging and YouTube in the sense that the income potential is immense here.
The simple fact is that selling stuff online can be incredibly profitable and even scale into a full-time job if you learn what sells well, where to source products from, and put in the time.
My friend Nathan runs an eBay flipping business where he makes several hundred dollars a month in profit, but it's mostly a side gig for him. For a larger-scale example, we can look at the retail arbitrage business I interviewed for a Young Money Interview.
I mean, just take a look at their Amazon FBA sales in a single month (checkout the interview if you want all the details):
Of course, this isn't all profit, but when you clear $40,000 in a single month revenue-wise I think it's a safe bet that you're at least making $2,000 per month (I'd hope so anyway…it's probably a lot more).
Again, this is just scratching the surface. Another selling option you can consider is selling on Poshmark or using apps like Mercari or the Facebook Marketplace to sell old clothing.
Granted, working up to $2,000 each month in sales is going to take time, practice, and some serious inventory. However, I like this category because once again, you can build it slowly on the side while you work elsewhere so you have financial security plus a lucrative side gig!

6. Consulting
While consulting isn't the sort of job you can just walk into right away, I definitely think it's worth keeping in mind if you have some serious industry experience and a network to fall back on.
You'd actually be amazed at the sort of income you can make with online consulting.
Back in college, my friend and I managed to get a $2,000 monthly SEO retainer for a local furniture company (which we split).
These days, I also make money on Upwork through a sort-of consulting gig, so there's a lot of ways to go about this:
I think the main thing I've learned about consulting is that opportunity presents itself the more people you meet and as your network expands. Seriously, if you keep trying new things, doors open and stuff can fall in your lap in the most random of ways.
So, while this isn't the most straightforward way to make $2,000 each month, I'd keep it in mind. You might find yourself in a position one day to lend your expertise to a business…but you don't have to always do it for free!

7. Airbnb Host
While this isn't the most classic example of jobs that pay $2,000 a month, if you're looking for a passive income idea, becoming an Airbnb host could be for you.
As an Airbnb host, you can potentially earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month depending on where you live, the type of space you're renting out, and how many bookings you get.
This could involve renting out a spare room, your entire place, or even camping spaces for people.
If you have a guest house, Airbnb is also a goldmine since you can rent your entire guest house to people and likely charge $100 to $200+ per night depending on your location. And Airbnb is just one example of ways to make money renting things.
Another idea is to rent out your spare storage space through Neighbor, which is basically the Airbnb of storage.
As a Neighbor host, you can rent out all sorts of storage space, including your attic, basement, bedroom, garage, shed, and even a parking space.
You set your own rates, and it's common for Neighbor hosts to earn an extra $50 to $100 per month for their storage space.
If you add these sorts of income streams to other side gigs, you can definitely make 2,000 dollars a month with several jobs or hustles!
