Taking surveys for money is a popular way to make money in your spare time. But with so many different companies out there, it can be hard to know which ones are worth using.
Valued Opinions, a survey site that has been around since 2004, is one of the more popular platforms in the space. And it says you can earn free gift cards just by sharing your opinion.
But is Valued Opinions legit? And how much does this survey website really pay?
Our Valued Opinions review is covering how the site works, its earning potential, and what other users have to say about their experiences so you can decide if it's worth using.

What Is Valued Opinions?
Valued Opinions is a market research company that's available in over 40 countries. The site has over 3 million members, and it lets people earn money online by completing surveys.
The company also offers focus group and product testing opportunities to members. Overall, the platform is similar to companies like Pinecone Research and Survey Junkie that also provide paid surveys and research opportunities.
Signing up is completely free. And if you want a quick way to get paid for your opinion, Valued Opinions is one of the most popular survey sites in the business.
Is Valued Opinions Legit?
Yes, Valued Opinions is legit, and it has over 3 million members in over 40 countries. The company pays members on time and has a 3.6 star rating on Trustpilot, with over 2,500 reviews.
This site is also one of the highest paying survey sites since surveys can pay up to $7 upon completion. And it's an easy way to earn money online as a beginner.
Just note that you can't make a full-time income with Valued Opinions; it's just a side hustle and not a massive income source.
How Does Valued Opinions Work?
I signed up for Valued Opinions to test out the site before writing this review. It's very easy to use and just takes four steps:
- Complete surveys
- Join focus groups
- Level up
- Cash out
1. Sign Up
Creating a Valued Opinions account is free, and it took me a few minutes to sign up. You can either sign up with your email address or by connecting your Facebook account.
Valued Opinions is available in over 40 countries. However, age requirements vary depending on where you live.
For example, residents of the United States need to be 13 years of age or older. Residents of the United Kingdom need to be 16 years or older, and Australia residents need to be 14 or older.
The fact you can sign up if you're under 18 makes Valued Opinions a popular teen survey site. And I like that it's so globally-friendly.
After you register, Valued Opinions prompts you to complete a welcome survey that asks you questions about your education, income, hobbies, health, and similar demographic questions.
This survey helps match you with more relevant studies down the line. And you also get a nice $1 sign up bonus for completing it.
2. Answer Surveys
Available surveys appear under your “Surveys” dashboard. Surveys tell you how much they pay and have a time estimate, which I like.
Valued Opinions claims that they pay up to $7 USD per survey, however based on my research, most surveys seem to pay between $0.25 to $1 or $2 at most unless you get lucky.
You also have to complete your survey profile by answering additional demographic questions if you want to get as many surveys as possible.
When testing Valued Opinions, I actually couldn't qualify for any additional surveys in the few days I was a member. I've heard it can take a while to get matched with surveys, so keep this in mind.
This is a pretty big downside however. A lot of instant cash survey sites like Branded Surveys and Swagbucks almost-always have available surveys. So, Valued Opinions is a bit of a slower earner.
3. Join Focus Groups
One unique selling point of Valued Opinions is that it also offers occasional paid focus group and diary study opportunities.
Both these opportunities pay more than surveys and involve working with researchers more directly. Topics can vary greatly as researchers are often looking for very specific demographics and studying something niche.
I didn't see any of these opportunities on my dashboard. But if you use the site for a while, you might qualify and get lucky.
You can also check out other market research platforms like User Interviews or Respondent.io if you want more of these high-paying opportunities.
4. Level Up
As you complete surveys, you can level up your Valued Opinions account “badge level” to unlock weekly bonuses. There are currently five tiers of badges:
- Bronze: You begin with this badge once you sign up.
- Silver: Earn a 2.5% weekly bonus on surveys; requires $15 in lifetime earnings.
- Gold: Earn a 5% weekly bonus on surveys; requires $25 in lifetime earnings.
- Platinum: Earn a 7.5% weekly bonus on surveys; requires $50 in lifetime earnings.
- Diamond: Earn a 10% weekly bonus on surveys; requires $100 in lifetime earnings.
These bonuses are essentially free money on the earnings you're already getting per survey. And this system is similar to reward programs survey apps like Branded Surveys have, which I'm a huge fan of.
5. Cash Out
You can cash out with Valued Opinions once you earn $10. Your reward options include free gift cards to a variety of companies, including:
The gift cards you can redeem vary based on your country, so this is just an example of what's available in the United States.
Also note that you can't get PayPal money with Valued Opinions. This is one of the main downsides of this GPT site, although gift card variety is quite good in most countries.
You also have to verify your account with a selfie and photo of government-issued ID before cashing out.
How Much Does Valued Opinions Pay?
Valued Opinions claims to pay up to $7 per survey, however most opportunities pay less. On average, expect to make a few dollars per hour with this survey site and claim a few gift cards per month if you put in some effort.
How much you earn largely depends on how many surveys you qualify for. I still haven't gotten any survey invites since signing up, so this hasn't been a very lucrative side hustle for me.
Pros & Cons

Cons:
- You have to submit a selfie and photo ID to receive payment
- Limited number of surveys available which limits earning potential
- Low income potential
- High survey disqualification rate
- No PayPal cash rewards
- No mobile app
Other Valued Opinions Reviews
After testing out Valued Opinions, I think it's legitimate. And I like that it's available in so many countries.
However, I didn't qualify for any surveys. And one way to tell if an online side hustle is worth it or not is to read testimonials from other readers.
Here are some other Valued Opinions reviews from forums like Reddit where people share their experiences:
- Adam12940 says: “Other websites pay better like valued opinions.”
- Darkmagosan says: “I maybe make an Amazon gift card or two on Valued Opinions.”
- The_real_Bri says: “I’ve been using Valued Opinions since 2019. I have redeemed many vouchers and it has worked for me. There is that risk of being disqualified at the end of doing a survey which is super annoying but the positives have always outweighed the negatives.”
Many users seem frustrated by how often Valued Opinions disqualifies you during or after surveys. And many users also suggest using sites like Swagbucks and Prolific instead since they pay more.
The Best Sites Like Valued Opinions
Valued Opinions can have high-paying surveys. But it doesn't always have available surveys, and disqualification rates are high.
Thankfully, there are numerous sites like Valued Opinions you can use instead to earn some quick money:
- Branded Surveys: My favorite survey panel with a fast $5 cash out minimum.
- Kashkick: A fun way to answer surveys and play games for PayPal cash.
- Swagbucks: One of the leading rewards platforms with gift cards and cash prizes.
- InboxDollars: A popular U.S. survey site that also has a 5 dollar bonus.
- Survey Junkie: Another great survey panel that pays you to answer questions in your spare time.
- Surveoo: A new a global survey site with high-paying rates.
These sites aren't legit online jobs or full-time income sources. But I've used them in the past and have cashed out numerous times, so I can verify that they pay.
Final Thoughts
I hope my Valued Opinions review helps you understand how this site works and what its earning potential is.
In my opinion, this is a solid backup survey site you can use alongside higher-paying sites I've mentioned in this article. With a bit of effort and luck, you can likely score a few free gift cards per year.
