What Is Solitaire Fortune?
Solitaire Fortune is a free iOS gaming app that lets you play in free and cash games of Solitaire to try and win prizes. The app is owned by TripleDot Fortune, a popular mobile app developer.
At the time of writing, Solitaire Fortune has a 4.3 star rating with over 29,000 reviews. And it's the 32nd most popular card game on the Apple app store.
If you've ever used apps like Solitaire Cash, Solitaire King, or Solitaire Cube, then Solitaire Fortune is going to feel quite familiar.
The app has a free game mode you can play for fun. But it also lets you buy-in to competitive one-versus-one matches and tournaments for the chance to win cash prizes.
You don't have to pay to use this app. However, if you want to potentially make money in tournaments, you have to buy-in, so this app isn't exactly a way to get free money.
Is Solitaire Fortune Legit?
Yes, Solitaire Fortune is legit, and the app lets you compete in competitive games of Solitaire to win cash prizes. However, you have to pay money to enter tournaments, which means you can potentially lose money by using this app. And the app makes it seem like it's very easy to earn a lot of money, but this is very misleading.
This is a common complaint many people have with apps like Solitaire Fortune.
Yes, you can potentially win money by playing. But you have to risk your own money to do so, and it's harder to win than a lot of people think.
Ultimately, this is why I'm not a fan of paid gaming apps like Solitaire Fortune, Bingo Cash, Bubble Cash, and other similar apps in the space.
There are plenty of legit online jobs and side hustles you can try instead that don't potentially lose money, so keep this in mind.
How Does Solitaire Fortune Work?
I downloaded Solitaire Fortune to try out the app for this review, and it's quite simple to use. Overall, the app works in four steps:
- Download the app
- Play free games
- Play competitive games
- Cash out
Time to break down how each step works in a bit more detail!
1. Download The App
At this time, Solitaire Fortune is only available on iOs devices. If you're on Android, you can try downloading its APK files, but it's not very easy to get working.
Solitaire Fortune is completely free to download and just requires iOS 12.0 or later. It's also available on iPad.
You have to be 17 or older to use the app, so keep this in mind. And once you download it, you can start playing games without going through a complex sign up process.
2. Play Free Games
Like other paid gaming apps, Solitaire Fortune lets you play free games of Solitaire to hone your skills. This gives you the opportunity to practice your skills, and to prepare for cash tournaments, should you choose to play them.
As for how Solitaire Fortune works, the game is very similar to the classic card game. There are two main scoring mechanism that contribute to your final score:
- Base Score: You receive 20 points when you flip a card and move it to the tableau and 20 points when you uncover a card.
- Time Bonus: Solitaire Fortune games are 300 seconds, and you win bonus points the faster you complete a game.
That's all there is to it, and the player with the highest point total at the end of the game wins!
3. Play Paid Solitaire Matches
If you want to make quick money with Solitaire Fortune, you have to compete in its cash tournaments. In these games, you deposit some of your own money into the app to pay the tournament fee to play.
Generally, buy-in fees are a few dollars. If you end up winning, you get your buy-in fee back, plus more, and TripleDot Fortune keeps a bit as well to make money.
There are also larger cash tournaments and games as well with more expensive buy-ins but larger prizes. And the app advertises that you can win $50 or more by winning games.
And according to Solitaire Fortune, you play against players of a similar skill level when you compete. This helps keep it even and fair.
However, my main complaint with apps like Solitaire Fortune is that there's no way to know if you're playing against real people or computers. And I don't like the idea of risking my own money to try and win more.
Personally, the cash games aren't for me, so I'm not testing them out or depositing my money in this app.
4. Cash Out
Solitaire Fortune has several different payment methods that you can use to withdraw and to deposit funds back and forth with the app. These options include:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Discover
- PayPal money
- Apple Pay
There's no minimum cash out requirement either, which is a plus. But again, you have to deposit money to try and win more, so this isn't a free online side hustle.
How Much Does Solitaire Fortune Pay?
Like a lot of money-making apps, playing Solitaire Fortune won't make you rich. And you need to put your own cash at risk to play in tournaments, and then there's only a chance at winning a prize.
For example, to win a $12 prize, you might need to pay a $3 cash fee to play. If you do well in the tournament, the prize pool is split between winners, and the app also takes a portion of the winnings. This means for the $3 fee, you might only win $4 or $5. Or you could win nothing at all and lose your buy-in fee.
This is a pretty low payout on return and also carries lots of risk. And even though the app has a $20 deposit credit, it spends your money first when entering games, which is pretty sneaky and scammy if you ask me.
Ultimately, there are so many get-paid-to apps and side hustles you can try that don't have these risks, so use your judgement when deciding if Solitaire Fortune is worth it.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- The app is free

- Ability to win cash rewards
- You can play free games for fun
Cons:
- Playing in cash tournaments risks losing money
- Cash games are not available in all states
- There's no Android app
- The app is somewhat misleading about how much money you can make
- You can't win prizes by playing free games
Other Solitaire Fortune Reviews
After testing out Solitaire Fortune, I don't think this app is worth using. And there are so many legit ways to make money online without paying anything that you can try instead.
Plus, other reviews of Solitaire Fortunate are mixed. Many players report glitches in the game, difficulty winning, and issues with scoring.
There are also complaints about the low levels of rewards received, suspicions about users who always win, and frustrations with charges from the app that users didn't authorize.
Here is some other Solitaire Fortune reviews on the App store:
- Dean gram says: “I enjoyed the game but quickly lost money, even though I was often second or third. One problem. The players are not evenly matched. I noticed a couple of players that won consistently with very high scores, while the remainder of the players came in with less than half the winners scored. Obviously, there are some highly skilled players that always win.”
- TempestChylde says: “I’ve been playing for a few weeks, mostly the non-cash option, trying to determine if playing for cash would be too much to lose. I do fairly well on non-cash and play cash when the daily reward builds up. I have what feels like a higher level of loss rate with the bonus cash. But I keep playing hoping to get good enough to make the cash option worth it.”
- AsiL0403 says: “I only play FREE games and of course have little chances of winning cash here and there. I would not take money from my bank account purposely for this type of stuff unless I were a master at them. Well, when I checked one of my bank accounts this morning, what do you think I see? 2 withdrawals for $8 each! This is not good business practice.”
As you can see, players are pretty unhappy with how uneven games appear. And some players also report unauthorized transactions in their bank accounts, even when sticking to the free games.
Overall, I don't think Solitaire Fortune is a good way to make money. You can wager some cash if you like playing Solitaire Cash and are okay with the risks, but don't expect a lot of money from this app.
The Best Solitaire Fortune Alternatives
I don't like using apps like Solitaire Fortune since you might lose more money than you make. Plus, there are plenty of other legit, high-paying apps that you can use instead like:
- Swagbucks: This rewards website pays you to play games, shop online, download apps, answer surveys, and more!
- Mistplay: A leading gaming rewards app for Android.
- Branded Surveys: This paid survey site lets you share your opinion and cash out quickly after earning $5.
- Ipsos iSay: A global survey platform with gift cards and free PayPal cash prizes.
- Money Well: A popular gaming app like Mistplay you can use to earn gift cards.
- Survey Junkie: Another leading survey panel with a $5 cash out minimum.
I also made a video that covers some legit ways to play games for money that you can use instead of Solitaire Fortune.
These apps won't make $100 a day or anything like that. But you don't have to risk money to use them, so I prefer them.
