Is Playbite Legit Or A Scam? – My Honest Review
Do you spend lots of time playing games on your phone? If the answer is yes, wouldn't it be great to get paid for the time you spent playing those games?
Well with Playbite, that might be possible. This mobile arcade game lets you play a variety of fun games and potentially win free gift cards and other prizes. But is it legit, or a total waste of time?
I downloaded Playbite and gave it a try to find out. And this review is sharing how it works, its true earning potential, and what some better alternatives are.
Is Playbite Legit?
Playbite is legit and lets you potentially win fun prizes for playing different arcade games. The app also has thousands of reviews and a 4.5 star average rating. But I don't think it's worth your time, at least for most players.
For the most part, this app is harmless fun. Other than time involved, there really isn’t any investment and there is a chance to win prizes.
That being said, if you really want to make money on your phone, there are plenty of better apps. For example, apps like Cash Giraffe or Bubble Cash both let you play games to earn real prizes and don't use a random lottery system.
In fairness, Playbite is totally honest about how its platform works. Although I think it slightly exaggerates how easy it is to win prizes.
What Is Playbite?
Playbite is a free mobile gaming app for Android and iOS. It lets players enjoy a wide range of arcade-style games, including single player and multiplayer games.
The app has hundreds of thousands of downloads and thousands of reviews on both app stores. Signing up is free, and the app is also globaly available.
As you play different games, you earn Playbite tickets. These tickets are redeemable for random prize draws, which include many free gift cards.
The app has a wide variety of genres as well, including action, puzzle, strategy, card, word, and simulator games. Overall, any fan of mobile gaming should find something they enjoy on Playbite.
However, if you want to earn money for playing games, you might be disappointed. That's because Playbite's reward system is highly luck-based and doesn't make it easy to guarantee your prize.
How Does Playbite Work?
Once you download Playbite, you can create an account with your email address or Google account. From there, you explore the app's wide range of arcade games and play them to earn tickets.
When I tested out Playbite, I decided to play a jumping game where you have to race your opponent to the bottom of a tower. The game didn't have any instructions, but it was pretty clear how to play it.
I didn't do well, but when I finished the game, I received a few thousand Playbite tickets. I then got to spin for a random chance at my desired prize, which was a $5 Amazon gift card. I didn't win the gift card, but instead unlocked 10% of the progress towards this gift card reward.
This is the entire Playbite system. You play a bunch of different arcade games, and then you spin for the chance to win free money, gift cards, electronics, and other prizes. You can also earn Playbits, which are gems, to unlock in-app achievements and characters, but these don't have monetary value.
In contrast, most cash game apps let you guarantee your rewards. For example, you can play Rewarded Play games on Android and eventually get a gift card, or play various iOS money games as well.
In comparison, Playbite is a completely random system. If you get lucky, you might win something, but there's no way of knowing how much you can make.
What Kind of Games Can You Play?
Playbite offers a variety of different types of games including the following:
- Puzzles
- Relaxing
- Jumping
- Multiplayer
- Rhythm
- Racing
- Word games
- Matching
Again, I played a jumping game, and it was fun. And the app also has plenty of popular games like Flappy Bird, Sky Drop, 2048, Minesweeper, Connect 4, and a neat soccer game.
Earning Potential & Rewards
Playbite has an exciting range of prizes, including gift cards, snacks, free electronics, plushie toys, and more. But it's impossible to know how much money you can make with this app.
This app does reward you with in-game tickets, but those tickets are only redeemable for a chance to win free gift cards or physical prizes. You basically cash in your tickets for contest entries for a chance to win a prize.
And sure, playing an arcade game might pay you with 10,000 to 50,000 Playbite tickets. But using these tickets often unlocks a small percentage of your desired prize or nothing at all. So, you'd have to play so many games to ever win anything.
Playbite also has a referral program and daily login bonuses. But again, all of these earning options just pay you with tickets, so it's impossible to know how much you're making.
This system is also different than other gaming apps like Swagbucks or Mistplay, where you know you can redeem rewards at a certain point.
What Is The Playbite+ Membership?
A Playbite+ membership provides a few perks like removing ads, doubling prize boxes, and helping you earn additional Playbits. Playbit+ costs $4.99 per month, and you manage your subscription through the Google or Apple app store.
Personally, I don't think Playbite+ is worth it unless you spend a lot of time on this app and want to get rid of pesky ads.
The Best Apps Like Playbite
Playbite has an excellent games library, and a lot of the arcade games are classics and are quite fun. But the app has a completely random rewards system, so it's not a useful money-maker.
That said, there are plenty of apps and websites where you can play games for guaranteed prizes:
- Freecash (my favorite PC option)
- Rewarded Play (my favorite Android option)
- Pool Payday (iOS)
- Cash Giraffe (Android)
- Cashyy (Android)
- Bingo Cash (iOS)
- Kashkick (Desktop)
Again, I prefer these apps since you know exactly what to do to cash out. And the games are also fun in their own right just like the games on Playbite.

Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Available on both Android and Apple devices
- Games are fun and entertaining
- Accessible in most countries
- Can earn double tickets if you play three days in a row
- You can double your winnings for a game if you watch an ad afterward
- Playbite has a fun mix of rewards
Cons:
- Prizes are completely random
- Low overall earning potential unless you get lucky
- Only gift card or merchandise rewards available, not cash or PayPal
- Little to no customer support
- The app has a lot of ads
- Ads are skippable, but only by paying for a Playbite+ subscription
- Users report app is glitchy and contains lots of errors
Who Can Use Playbite?
Playbite is rated for ages 12 and up. The app does appear to be available world wide and can be downloaded on both Apple and Android devices.
The games themselves, as well as the prizes do seem to be targeted to a younger demographic. Not many grownups are going to spend their time for a chance to win stuffed animals or candy.
Creating a Playbite account is free. You can do this quickly by logging in via your Apple or Google account. Playbite only asks for your address if you win a physical prize. But you need to provide your email to create an account and to receive any digital prizes.
There is also an option to play as a guest. Guest players still earn Playbite tickets, but if you use a new phone, you'll lose all your progress.

Is There Customer Support?
You can reach Playbite's customer service by emailing [email protected] for inquiries. You can also submit its website feedback form. The company is also active on Discord, Twitter, and Instagram. Finally, there's a brief FAQ form on the website with a bit of information about how Playbite works and how it makes money.
Final Thoughts
There are so many real money games out there or creative ways to play video games for money. And while I like Playbite's wide variety of games, I don't think it's a great side hustle.
Sure, you might eventually win some merchandise or gift cards. But don't expect a steady stream of rewards.
Ultimately, I think Playbite is worth using if you enjoy arcade-style games and spend a lot of time playing on your phone. However, those looking for consistent hustle income should probably skip this app.
