So, you want to make an extra $500 a week and are wondering where to start.
This is an extra $2,000 a month in your pocket. This is the type of money that can help you pay off your bills, put money into savings, or to go on a trip you've been dreaming of.
And the great news is, you have plenty of ways to begin making this type of cash each week.
If you're willing to start a new side hustle, it's possible to make $500 a week. Let's dive into exactly how you can get started!
The Best Ways To Make $500 A Week
Many of the methods I've used in the past to make more money per week involve earning money online. And some of the ideas involve hustling in-person by using different gig apps.
Pick one or several ideas that match your schedule and skills. Then, you're ready to get to work and to make more money!
1. Freelance Online
Freelancing online is one of the most effective ways you can boost your weekly income. And this is actually what I did with freelance writing when I had a day job at a marketing agency.
These days, freelancing lets me travel the world as a digital nomad, making money with my laptop. And I've managed to surpass my old day job's income with writing alone.
Writing is just one example of a freelancing gig you can try. There are plenty of others, including:
- Accounting and bookkeeping
- Editing and proofreading
- Data entry
- Digital marketing
- Graphic design
- SEO
- Social media management
- Transcription
- Video editing
- Virtual assistant work
Websites like FlexJobs are an excellent place to find remote jobs. You can also look for beginner jobs on Upwork and Fiverr to get started.
2. Deliver Food
People are always hungry, and this means there's ample opportunity to make money with various food delivery services.
This type of gig job involves delivering food and groceries to people. These gigs don't require any experience, and many apps even let you deliver with your bike, car, scooter, or on foot.
Several leading food delivery gigs you can consider include:
With these gigs, making $12 to $20+ per hour, especially on a busy day and if tips are good. This means making $500 a week with DoorDash, Uber Eats, or some combination of apps is quite feasible if you grind out enough deliveries.

3. Answer Online Surveys
Online surveys are a super simple way to begin making money online. And while survey sites can't pay a full-time income, earning $500 a week or some side cash at the very least is possible.
I've also been using these sites for 5+ years to make money. Some of my favorite ones include:
My YouTube video covers even more sites you can use. And this is the perfect side hustle to test out while you watch TV or have some downtime around the house.

4. Pet Sitting
One of my friends in college made money every month by pet sitting for people in our college town. And this is a great side hustle idea if you like spending time with furry companions.
Offering services like dog walking, pet sitting, and drop-in visits can easily pay $15 to $20+ per hour. You can earn even more if you work weekends and during a holiday.
If you need help finding clients, apps like Rover are also an excellent option.
Rover connects pet owners and qualified sitters in the same city. A few clients is all you need for $500 a week to become a reality.
5. Deliver Packages For Money
Like delivering food, there are numerous ways you can get paid to deliver packages. And this hustle is an excellent choice if you have a truck, sedan, or cargo van that can fit large packages.
Several popular package delivery gigs you can try include:
Many of these gigs can pay $15 to $25 per hour before accounting for gas. This means earning 500 dollars a week is feasible if you hustle for a few evenings each week.

6. Make Money Blogging
While it might surprise you, blogging is another online job that can pay weekly. In fact, blogging at WebMonkey is now how I make most of my annual income.
A blog can also pay way more than $500 per week.
For example, I started blogging in 2018. I only made $1,700 that entire first year. But in my fifth year, I made $272,000 blogging, and I'm on track to hit $500,000+ this year.
I make most of my blogging income from Mediavine advertisements and affiliate income. But bloggers can also make money with tactics like selling sponsored content, digital products, online coaching, and selling eBooks.
My video above shares how I grew my blog and how all the revenue streams break down. And the bottom line is that anyone can start and scale their own blog and diversify their income with a valuable online asset.
You don't need to spend a fortune to get started either; a simple WordPress theme and some SiteGround hosting is all I used for my first two years!
7. Rent Out Things For Money
Do you have a spare room, car, camera, or some other type of valuable asset laying around? If the answer is yes, you can always try renting things out for money to reach your $500 a week goal.
This is a more unique idea that can also turn into a nice source of passive income. And there are plenty of things you can rent out, including:
- Extra storage space with a company like Neighbor
- A spare room or house with Airbnb or VRBO
- Internet bandwidth with an app like Honeygain
- Your car with Turo
- An RV camper with RVShare
A couple of rentals with something like Airbnb can easily be thousands of dollars per month. And you can stack a few rental ideas to work towards your weekly income target.
8. Get A Part-Time Job
A part-time job is one of the simplest ways to boost your weekly income. And you can look for night shift work or flexible positions that don't interfere with your day job either.
Alternatively, check with your supervisor if getting overtime or more hours at your current workplace is an option. This is another great way to bring home a bit of extra cash each week.
If these options fail, you can find part-time and flexible temp work with apps like Wonolo, Steady, and JobGet.
9. Flip Stuff
Do you have a knack for spotting a bargain? If so, why not try your hand at flipping stuff to turn a quick profit?
Some of my friends do this by flipping clothing, watches, shoes, and electronics. They purchase them for low amounts on marketplaces like Facebook and Craigslist and then resell them on eBay or other online marketplaces.
I've done this in the past as well with used furniture and old guitars. And if you learn a niche well enough and how to spot an undervalued asset, there's a lot of money to be made in flipping.
My post on how to make money with retail arbitrage covers this topic in more detail if you're curious about flipping at scale.

10. Use Microtask Websites
Microtask sites pay you for completing short tasks like data entry, transcription, image tagging, translation, and virtual assistant type gigs.
These sites are an excellent way to earn money online as a beginner. And you can generally earn $3 to $10 per hour or a bit more with some of the top sites.
Several leading microtask platforms include:
My video covers these microtask sites and others in more detail if you're curious about this side hustle.
11. Online Tutoring
If you're an expert at a certain subject in school, online tutoring is another online side hustle you can start to make more money each week.
Some of my friends did this during college and were even teaching assistants. And there are plenty of online tutoring companies like Chegg, Tutor.com, and VIPKid that hire people to teach subjects like math and English.
You can also offer in-person tutoring if you live near a school and know enough students who need help in their studies.
12. Start An Online Business
One more idea for making $500 a week is to start your own online business.
Now, you have plenty of ways to get started. Some of the most popular online business models you can try out include:
- Selling print on demand products on Etsy (I tried this during school)
- Starting your own ecommerce store on Shopify
- Selling products on marketplaces like Redbubble
- Starting a digital advertising agency or services agency
- Dropshipping
I also made a video covering some more niche online business ideas you can try if you want to give online business a try. And I love this route since the income potential is incredibly scalable, and you don't need to spend a lot of money to get started.
Even More Ideas To Try
The 12 ideas I've listed above are some of my favorite side hustles and ideas to make $500 a week. However, there are even more ways you can accomplish this goal, including:
- Making money with YouTube or a podcast
- Driving for ridesharing apps like Uber or Lyft
- Selling stuff at a flea market or at a garage sale
- Doing local cash gigs like babysitting, landscaping, or cleaning
- Making money with social media influencing
- Getting a part-time online job
- Making money with affiliate marketing
- Using reward apps to earn cash back when you shop
- Investing for income with assets like dividend stocks or bonds
- Look for unclaimed money
- Play cash games to earn money
- Earn sign up bonuses from apps, banks, and credit cards
Between these ideas and the hustles above, you should have plenty of options to begin making more money each week.
Final Thoughts
After years of testing out various side hustles, I'm a firm believer that anyone can begin making more money each week if they put in some time and attention.
And while most side hustles won't make $50,000 a month or anything crazy, every little bit helps. So, I hope at least one of the ideas in this article helps you begin improving your finances.
It might take a few weeks or months to see results depending on the ideas you pick. But if you stick with a hustle, you'll be amazed at where you can end up.
