Did you know you can actually get paid to give advice and start a new side hustle without even having anything to sell?
The reality is that people are willing to pay for advice in all kinds of fields. So, if you're an expert at something, there's a strong chance you can make money giving advice to people. In fact, I make all of my income online, and a lot of it involves helping other people, giving advice, and consulting.

17 Ways To Get Paid To Give Advice
1. Give Advice With Your Blog
Starting a blog and giving people advice to make money is, in my opinion, one of the advice-based side hustles with the most potetial.
And yes, you can make money with a blog. For example, in 2022, WebMonkey made $272,000.
My YouTube video explains exactly how I monetize my blog and the steps I took to get here. With Mediavine, my blog makes $500 a day or more in autopilot income. And when I add in affiliate marketing income, the blog makes $1,000 a day or even more.
The reality is that growing your blogging audience is one of the most direct ways to make money giving advice. The more people you help, the more you earn through display ads, affiliate deals, and even selling your own products.
And, starting your own blog is very affordable! For example, you can find domain names and hosting with a company like SiteGround. This lets you start your blog without spending a fortune, which is exactly what I did.
Granted, it took me five years of blogging to work up to earning over $200,000. But let me tell you, I think this is one of the most scalable ways to get paid to give advice there is.
2. Join Consumer Opinion Panels
One of the easiest ways to get started is to join different consumer opinion panels and paid survey sites that pay you for your opinion and feedback.
You also have plenty of options. Some of my favorite gpt sites you can use include:
None of these sites are going to make you thousands of dollars. But for easy way to give advice and get paid, they're a reliable option.

3. Start A YouTube Channel
Like starting a blog, YouTube is another amazing outlet where you can get paid to give advice.
And, YouTube isn't too competitive to start either. I started a YouTube channel in 2020 for WebMonkey. Since then, my channel has grown to over 18,000 subscribers and now makes $50 a day or so in advertisement revenue.
And again, what is YouTube really? Yes, it's an entertainment source, but it's also a platform where people can make helpful or instructional videos to help viewers.
In my case, I teach people about passive income, side hustles, and basic personal finance content. But, you could make money on YouTube by giving advice in so many other niches.
4. Start A Podcast
Now, I will say that making money with a podcast is much more challenging than making money with a blog or YouTube channel.
This is largely because podcast hosts make the most money from sponsorships, which requires a decent-sized audience to build. Display ads and affiliate sales just aren't really a thing.
That being said, a podcast is the perfect platform to give advice and get paid, provided you can grow an audience over time. Podcasting is also an excellent way to promote a business or brand you might own or simply expand your network.

5. Give Advice On Fiverr
Fiverr is one of the largest freelance marketplaces around with millions of freelancers and nearly 4 million active buyers.
On Fiverr, common gigs you can hire freelance talent for includes stuff like freelance writing, graphic design, programming, and website design. None of these really let you get paid to give advice, but Fiverr also has some weird ways to make money.
For example, if you search for “coaching” on Fiverr, you find sellers offering advice on topics like:
- Business development
- Emotions
- Dating and relationships
- Productivity
- Video game advice
- Wellness and life coaching
- Online fitness coach
And, as you can see from the screenshot above, some sellers have dozens or hundreds of orders and are charging between $20 to $100+ for giving advice!
Check out our post – is Fiverr worth it? – for all the details!
6. Start An Online Coaching Business
Instead of Fiverr, you can always try cutting out the middleman and launching your own coaching business instead.
You should still pick a niche to focus on, and usually, online coaches get their start from other platforms, like blogging, social media, or YouTube. This is because you need to drive traffic to your online coaching business and give people a reason to want to hire you.
An example I always reference is Rob Lipsett, a fitness YouTuber I've been following for years who also offers online coaching plans and packages for clients to get in shape:
Again, you need to pick a niche you want to give advice in, and growing a following will take even more time than selling somewhere like Fiverr.
7. Answer Questions On JustAnswer
While it might surprise you, you can also become an online advice giver by sharing your knowledge on popular question-answer forums that pay.
JustAnswer is one of the most popular examples in this space. And it's a lucrative way to make money texting and calling people to share your advice.
On JustAnswer, members pay a monthly fee to be able to ask JustAnswer whatever question they want. Once a member asks a question, JustAnswer matches that member to a verified JustAnswer expert who can help.
JustAnswer states you can earn an average of $2,000 to $7,000 per month, which is an absurdly large range and not what I'd expect out of the gate, or at all.
But, you can still get paid to answer questions, and JustAnswer has several popular categories, including:
- Medical
- Vet
- Car
- Home improvement
- Computer
- Electronics
- Taxes
- Tutoring
- Other
You have to apply to become a JustAnswer Pro, which involves providing your identification, SSN, and consenting to a background check. But, one you're approved, you can set your own work schedule and make money by sharing your advice with people who need your expert opinion.

8. Try Websites That Pay You To Give Advice.
There's actually lots of online jobs where experts can get paid for helping people with their various problems.
Some popular websites in this space include:
- Arise – Work as a customer service agent for Arise and work from home as an agent for different companies! For example, Arise is currently looking for chat operators to work for Carnival Cruise, numerous internet companies, and Dick's Sporting Goods. You typically earn between $9 to $15 per hour.
- Bit Wine – Bit Wine lets you get paid for your advice as a psychic. You set your own rates and availability, and common services include things like fortune telling, palm reading, tarot card reading, and just giving general spiritual advice.
- LivePerson – This AI-powered chat company uses a mixture of AI tech and live chat agents to help provide customer service staffing for other businesses.
- Keen – Like Bit Wine, you can become an advisor on Keen and give advice about dating, psychic matters, and general life questions. You also set your own hours and rates.
- Needle – Needle lets you give other people shopping advice about particular products/services you're very familiar with. You get paid for your advice, but you have to pass an application test to be approved to work for Needle.
- SiteStaff Chat – SiteStaff Chat is another customer service job that specializes in senior living, medicine, law, and finance companies. If you want to make money giving advice to customers who need help, this is another company you can apply to.
Some of these websites are, in my opinion, quite silly and also not very promising. I mean, making serious money as a psychic on Keen or Bit Wine doesn't sound too probable. But, you can make money helping people with customer support gigs like Arise and SiteStaff Chat, so I think there is still potential here.

9. Give Financial Guidance
Two popular jobs under this umbrella are financial planner and tax specialists/accountants.
A financial planner helps people with wealth management and provides investment advice for individuals or couples to plan for their financial future.
As for tax specialists or accountants, they can help clients prepare for tax season or sometimes specialize in more specific areas of tax laws.
You typically need a degree for both of these jobs, but the pay is solid. For example, according to PayScale, the average financial planner earns almost $65,000 per year!
Again, the requirements for either job are more advanced than just selling your advice online on a website like Fiverr. But, if you're career searching, you can consider both options if you enjoy talking about finances!

10. Give Dating Advice
Giving dating advice for money is a sub-niche of this whole topic that I wanted to highlight in it's own section.
A large part of this is because dating advice is extremely valuable and popular on websites like Fiverr. I mean, if you search for dating coaching or dating advice, you get scores of sellers with plenty of sales and expensive gigs:
So, if you want to become a dating coach, Fiverr would be the first place I list some services. Additionally, you can also look for accredited courses in relationship counselling if you want to become a relationship counsellor.
Believe it or not, you can even find these sorts of courses on Udemy if you don't want to do a more serious, in-person course at a local college.
11. Amazon Customer Service
When you think about making money on Amazon, you might think about Amazon FBA or working for Amazon Flex. But, when you consider Amazon's sheer size, is it really surprising this ecommerce behemoth is always hiring customer service agents?
That's right: Amazon regularly hires remote customer service agents to help Amazon customers with their questions.
This virtual customer service role can be full-time or part-time. Additionally, a lot of the jobs are U.S. based, but you can find global positions as well.
Some jobs are also on-site which could suit your style more if you prefer working from a call center. According to Indeed, Amazon customer service jobs pay approximately $17.60 per hour, which is above minimum wage.

12. Apple At Home Advisor
Like Amazon, Apple also hires “at home advisors” to give advice to Apple users about specific product questions.
According to Apple, this role involves answering “questions about our products and services, enriching customers’ lives by helping them access the wonder they’ve come to expect from Apple.”
So, in short, an Apple customer might call with questions or concerns and it's your job to answer them. You get to work from home in this role, and Apple also provides paid time off, product discounts, and career growth opportunities.

13. U-Haul
U-Haul is a moving and storage company that you probably associate with moving into/out of a college house or moving to a new apartment.
But, U-Haul is another company that's known for hiring customer service agent, and this makes sense when you think about how many booking questions they must get.
So, if you want to get paid for giving advice to soon-to-be movers, you can check out U-Hauls career page for customer service roles. There's currently lots of part-time, remote call center jobs available, as well as some bilingual opportunities!
14. Liveops
Liveops is a virtual call center company that hires customer support agents on behalf of its clients around the world.
What's interesting about Liveops versus most call center jobs is that you set your own hours; you aren't forced to work weird hours or anything like that because your client is in a different time zone.
You have to apply to be an agent, and Liveops runs a background check that you pay for. This costs $24.99. Liveops also requires operators to have a headset with a microphone and reliable internet. You can view LiveOps' requirements on the hiring page.
How much you make depends on how many hours you work and calls you get. According to Indeed, Liveops agents earn approximately $27,000 per year.
Since Liveops is flexible, you don't have to work full-time of course, making this a nice side hustle idea that involves giving advice to people.
15. Become A Personal Trainer
If you have a passion for fitness and want to help others, becoming a personal trainer is another hustle you can try.
A lot of my friends have made money as PTs over the years. And, it's a very rewarding job since the nutritional and fitness advice you give to clients can transform lives.
According to Salary.com, personal trainers also earn about $62,000 per year on average. But if you branch into selling your own ebooks and workout guides, you can potentially earn even more or start your own online business.
Plus, this is a pretty fun way to get paid to workout as well, so you can get fit while also getting paid to give advice!
💪 Become a certified personal trainer and take your business to the next level with the National Personal Training Institute. Attend online or in-person classes and launch your own personal training side hustle!
16. Consulting
Consulting was actually one of my first and most successful college side hustles.
In short, a friend and I helped a few small businesses run Facebook ads and gave them a bunch of SEO advice. At one point in time, we were earning $3,000 a month and splitting it between ourselves.
Consulting is also something I've kept up with and definitely recommend as you become more specialized in a niche.
For example, I've been making money on Upwork with a consulting-type gig with a new company that I love working with. I've earned over $10,000 so far from the arrangement:
In short, if you're very knowledgeable about something, getting into consulting is another high-paying way to sell your advice.
17. Try Website & App Testing
There's actually numerous companies that pay you to test websites and apps. This is basically a quality assurance job in which you try websites or apps that are in development, test bugs, and give your feedback about your user experience.
So, in short, you get to play around with websites and apps and then give advice on what could be better for users.
Some popular user testing jobs include:
- UserTesting
- TryMyUI
- Userlytics
- PlaytestCloud (for mobile games)
- Usercrowd
- Respondent
Tests typically take 10 to 20 minutes with these platforms and pay around $10. You get paid in PayPal cash. This is a great hourly rate, but know that user testing gigs are extremely variable. You might get a few test opportunities one month and zero the next.
Regardless, if you want a nice source of beermoney and to get paid for sharing your advice, user testing gigs are worth signing up for.

What Kinds Of Industries Let You Sell Your Advice For Money?
If you want to get paid for advice, there's generally three kinds of niches you can use to make money:
- Create Self-Help Content. Give advice to people and get paid because it helps them improve some aspect of their life.
- Start Consulting Or Coaching. Create plans/strategies for your clients to achieve a certain objective and act as a mentor along the way.
- Customer Service Jobs. Give advice to customers who have questions about the product/service a company offers.
In my experience, creating your own self-help content and consulting/coaching are where the serious money is at. But, if you want a decent paying side job, customer support jobs are a reliable way to get paid for your advice.
Tips For Getting Started:
Here are some of my tips to ensure you make money by giving advice with these different kinds of side hustles:
- Pick A Niche: People want advice from experts. So, pick a niche you have credentials and experience in and focus on a unique offering.
- Get Testimonials: Testimonials from past clients are crucial for getting future clients. This is especially true if you're selling a high-ticket service.
- Focus On Scaling: Things like ebooks, seminars, online coaching, and digital products can be much more scalable than giving advice in person.

Final Thoughts
If you want to get paid to give advice, I hope these ideas provide a nice launching pad for you to get started.
Again, I think business ideas like blogging, YouTube, coaching, and consulting have the highest earning potential. The trade-off is that it can take months or years before your income really grows.
In contrast, websites that pay you for giving advice or customer support jobs pay quicker but cap your earnings at a set hourly rate.
My advice is to set some financial goals and, once again, pick a niche you're a true expert in so you can help as many people as possible! And who knows: you might find that giving advice turns into a fun side hustle you stick with for years to come.
