What Is Flash Rewards
Flash Rewards is a free get-paid-to app that's available for Android devices.
Vesey Studios is the company behind Flash Rewards, and this gaming studio also owns other games like Boodle, Lucky Level, and Munchies Rise.
On Flash Rewards, you earn coins, the in-app currency, for completing various shopping offers and for playing games.
You can then redeem coins for various prizes, like gift cards and prepaid Visa cards.
If you use apps like AppNana or Mistplay, this whole system will feel very familiar to you.
So, Flash Rewards basically lets you earn small amounts of free money in your spare time by using your smartphone.
But, is Flash Rewards legit, and how does the app even work? Let's dive in.
How Does Flash Rewards Work?
If you want to make money with the Flash Rewards app, the process only takes four steps.
- Download and sign up for the app
- Play new mobile games
- Complete shopping offers
- Cash out
Time to examine each step in more detail.
1. Download & Sign Up
As mentioned, Flash Rewards is completely free and is available for Android devices.
You need to have an Android device that's 5.0 or higher. The Flash Rewards app is only 34MB itself, so this isn't a large app by any means.
Note: you have to live in the United States and be 18 or older to sign up for Flash Rewards.
Once you download the app, you create an account with your email address and a password.
From there, you complete your Flash Rewards profile by answering a short demographic questionnaire. This questionnaire asks you questions about your:
- Age and gender
- Education
- Job
- Income level
- Various consumer preferences
- Zip code and address
This is pretty standard in the world of beermoney apps since apps want to match you to more relevant offers and surveys so they end up making more money as well, so don't be alarmed.
After you complete your profile, you're ready to start making money with Flash Rewards.
2. Play Mobile Games
The main way to earn coins with Flash Rewards is to download new mobile games to play.
Like other apps that pay you to play games, Flash Rewards pays you for trying new mobile games. The longer you play, the more coins you can earn.
There's a decent selection of game genres as well, and some current Flash Rewards games include:
- Bingo Blitz
- Coin Master
- Candy Crush
- Clash of Clans
- Grand Harvest
- Munchies Rise
- Lucky Level
- Pirate Kingdom
- Risk
- Zynga Poker
The most popular genres are card games, betting games, and strategy/base builder simulation games.
Flash Rewards pays you a certain amount of coins whenever you level-up in a game.
For example, you might get 100 coins for reaching level 2 in Coin Master, and then earn 100 coins for reaching level 3 and so on.
However, progressing through levels takes more time each level, so your earning potential slowly goes down with each game, even if the coin payouts for reaching a new level look high.
This is a common problem with gaming apps that pay you since it forces you to constantly try new games if you want to make more money.
3. Complete Offers
The other main way to earn coins with Flash Rewards is to complete various offers.
Most commonly, these offers require making an online purchase or signing up for a new service.
Some examples of current Flash Rewards' offers include:
- Trying Disney+
- Signing up for Ibotta, a popular rewards app
- Subscribing to Hulu
- Downloading the S'more app, a popular passive income app
- Opening online bank accounts with various financial partners
- Shopping online at certain retailers
Offers can get pretty lucrative and even pay $50 to $75+ worth of coins for completing them.
However, the highest-paying offers are for things like opening an online bank account or spending significant money on a purchase.
For the other offers, you're probably looking at a few dollars worth of coins for downloading apps or paying for cheap subscriptions. Certain games pay coins if you spend money on in-app purchases as well.
But really, Flash Rewards' offers are only useful if you were going to buy something anyway. Otherwise, I don't think this app is very different from other cash-back shopping platforms.
For example, the Drop app has even more shopping and download offers than Flash Rewards. Similarly, I do all of my online shopping through Rakuten, a leading cash-back rewards website.
Ultimately, this section is a nice touch for Flash Rewards if you spot an offer you were going to buy anyway. But, besides that, I'm normally not a huge fan of pay-to-earn shopping apps.
4. Cash Out
You need to have 5,000 coins, which is worth $5, to cash out on Flash Rewards.
I've seen some Flash Rewards reviews state you can redeem PayPal cash as a prize starting at just $2, but I don't know if this is true and I can't find a PayPal cash option.
In any case, some prizes you can redeem on Flash Rewards include:
- Amazon gift cards
- Blizzard gift cards
- Playstation store credit
- Nike gift cards
- Prepaid Visa cards
- Starbucks gift cards
This is a pretty standard rewards list, and a $5 redemption minimum is pretty reasonable.
Just note: you have to confirm your phone number before cashing out your first gift card, which many users don't know. This means you need a working sim card and U.S. cell phone plan!
Anyway, if you regularly play games, you should theoretically reach $5 within a couple of days or a week.
We'll get into if Flash Rewards is legit or not and some problems some users report later on in this review, but from a rewards perspective, the app is pretty decent.
Earning Potential
The highest-paying offers on Flash Rewards require spending money on new services or products.
So, while you can earn $50 to $75+ for a bunch of offers, I don't think this is super realistic for most users.
If you only play games, Flash Rewards is probably similar to other gaming apps like App Flame or App Station where you can earn the occasional free $5 gift card every two weeks or month.
In other words, don't expect to make more than $10 to $20 per month with Flash Rewards, and this is only if you spend a decent amount of time playing games.
Other Flash Rewards Reviews
For any online money making idea, it's a good idea to look at what other people are saying so you can gauge if something is legit or not.
So, what are other Flash Rewards app reviews like?
Well, for starters, the app has over 500,000 downloads and has a 4.1 star rating with 5,600+ reviews.
You should take Google Play Store reviews with a grain of salt since reviews can be fake, but let's see what some users are saying about Flash Rewards:
- Bryson Scionti says: “Amazing app I had enough for a $10 gift card within 3 days. After that however, there aren't really any offers to do. (Game offers)”
- Kaycee Douglas says: “Its just a scam. I downloaded a few games from it, making THEM money, but now there is an “security error” and it just sits there and I can't do anything.”
- Kimberly Hopkins says: “Waste of time. Junk app. I got a security message even trying to sign up. Delete!!! I'd give no stars if I could.”
- Sabrina Kidd says: “This would be a good app if customer support answered their messages and actually helped. I can't redeem a gift card because it wants to verify my phone number via sms message.”
- Carl DeAmicis says: “This app is a hoax. I have been unable to cash out my rewards. I don't recommend it to anyone. Their customer support is a joke. I wasted my time with this app. I wish I didn't have to give it a star it doesn't even deserve one.”
- Kristi Podkowka says: “This is a legitimate app. You can get paid daily if you meet their thresholds. I just cashed out $2.13 within 24 hours. I haven't played all day. I just play during my downtime like waiting on the line or commuting by bus.”
So, as you can see, people either love or hate Flash Rewards.
I think the lack of customer service and some users not being able to cash out rewards is very concerning and a massive con.
Some people seem to have no problem cashing out, but again, tred with caution here and don't sink too much time into the app before trying to cash out.
Pros & Cons
It wouldn't be a fair Flash Rewards review without covering the advantages and disadvantages of using this rewards app:
The Pros:
- Decent variety of games and genres
- Low redemption minimum
- Some high-paying shopping offers
The Cons:
- Many users report awful customer service and not being able to cash out
- No PayPal rewards from what I can tell
- No sign up bonus
- No referral program
- Offers aren't useful unless you wanted to buy them anyway
Honestly, I think Flash Rewards falls in the same category with a lot of gaming/offer-focused reward apps.
This is a fun way to earn rewards in your spare time, but only if you already enjoy mobile games.
I think the shopping offers need some work, but Flash Rewards does update regularly and is always adding new games and offers, which is a plus.
Just be cautious since customer support seems slow and some users have difficulty cashing out.
Apps Like Flash Rewards
If you like the idea of playing games for prizes and want to try some Flash Rewards alternatives, you can consider:
- Drop – Great for shopping and also downloading new mobile games to earn free gift cards.
- Mistplay – Play new Android games and earn free gift cards, and you can cash out at just $0.50!
- App Flame
- AppNana
- Coin Pop
- App Station
- Rewarded Play
- Gamehag – The best way to play PC games for cash and free gift cards
- Gamekit – Another way to play PC games for prizes like Gamehag.
None of these apps like Flash Rewards will make you hundreds of dollars per month. Again, this is a fun, modest side hustle, not a serious gig.
If you want to explore some slightly higher-paying opportunities, I suggest checking out our post on websites like Usertesting to learn more about making money with user testing gigs.
You can also turn to various gig economy apps if you want to make some serious cash. Popular apps in this space include driving for DoorDash or Instacart.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is Flash Rewards Legit?
Flash Rewards is run by a legit company, and I don't think the app is doing anything shady on purpose.
However, there are numerous customer complaints about slow customer service, and this is a major downside.
When you consider that some users have trouble cashing out, I think this makes Flash Rewards legit but an app you should be cautious with.
2. Who Can Use Flash Rewards
You can use Flash Rewards if you're 18 or older and live in the United States.
You also need a working sim card to verify your phone number when you redeem your first gift card.
3. Is Flash Rewards A Scam?
Again, I don't think Flash Rewards is intentionally scamming people.
But, with slow customer support and some technical problems for users, I think this reward app has some fixes to implement.
Who Should Use Flash Rewards?
In my opinion, the ideal Flash Rewards user already uses other gaming apps that pay and wants to add another app to their routine.
If you want to make hundreds of dollars per month or earn passive income, Flash Rewards isn't the app for you.
Final Thoughts
I hope this Flash Rewards review helps you figure out if this rewards app deserves a spot on your smartphone.
I love money-making apps, and it's always been a focus of WebMonkey.
I still think Flash Rewards has some growing to do, but the existing game selection and frequent updates are pluses.
Hopefully the company can improve its customer service and continue to add new rewards and games to the platform.
Thanks so much for reading!
