The Best Easy Online Jobs For Beginners
I've been making money with a variety of online jobs and methods for years. And during this time, I've found plenty of easy online jobs from home that are perfect for starting a new side hustle or even a new career.
All of these jobs have few or no requirements, so anyone can start with a bit of effort. You still need to apply with a resume in some cases, or potentially interview. But a lot of these easy online jobs also let you sign up and earn money online immediately.
1. Virtual Assistant
If you have a knack for organizing and communication, one easy online job you can consider is becoming a virtual assistant.
Companies are constantly looking for assistants who can help complete simple tasks and deal with administrative work. This is why they hire virtual assistants, or VAs.
Typical duties for a virtual assistant include:
- Scheduling meetings
- Responding to emails and phone calls
- Booking travel for employees
- Organizing calendars
- Managing contacts
- Creating presentations
- Posting to social media
All in all, these tasks are relatively simple and low-stress. Plus, all of this is being done remotely!
Virtual assistants can make between $15-$20 per hour, but this rate can change depending on the size of a brand and how much work you’re doing for them.
You can find beginner-friendly VA jobs on platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and different remote job sites. Occasionally, sites like Indeed or Glassdoor also post virtual assistant jobs for hire.
2. Survey Taker
Taking paid surveys is one of the easiest online jobs for beginners because you don’t even have to work for anyone. In fact, all you have to do is share your opinion and insights on various topics to start making money.
I've been using survey and get-paid-to websites for years. And if you want to make quick money, it's incredibly easy online work that also lets you work on your own schedule.
Here are a few survey sites that are perfect for beginners:
- Branded Surveys – A leading survey site that lets you earn free PayPal money and gift cards.
- Survey Junkie – A survey site lets you cash out at only $5 and pays you for your opinion.
- Prolific – A high paying site that pays you for completing studies and surveys.
- Swagbucks – The most popular site that pays you for answering surveys, playing games, watching videos, and more.
- Kashkick – Another way to share your opinion and play games for PayPal money.
The great thing about survey sites is that you can use a bunch of them at once. So, you can sign up for a few, answer surveys in your spare time, and realistically make an extra $50 to $100+ a month.
This type of easy online work won't replace your 9-to-5 job or anything close to that. But it's an easy way to get some extra PayPal cash or free gift cards in your spare time.
3. Website Tester
Website testing is definitely my favorite easy way to make money online because it pays more than survey sites and is usually more enjoyable.
Website testing gigs pay you for testing and sharing your opinion about different apps and websites. All you have to do is sign up for testing platforms, claim gigs, and then record yourself completing some basic tasks while you voice your opinions.
These are some of the best website testing sites to try:
- UserTesting – A leading website tester that pays $10 per test and takes 15 minutes to complete.
- PlaytestCloud – Pays around $10 a test and lets you try new mobile apps and games in development.
- TryMyUI – Site that pays $10 or more for giving your honest opinion on websites and apps.
- TestingTime – Offers longer tests that pay up to $50 for your time.
My favorite digital side hustle in this category is UserTesting. I would use it all the time in college to make extra money, and it's a very easy online job that's quite flexible.
If you sign up for a few sites like UserTesting, you can potentially get two to three tests a day if you get lucky. That’s $30 per day for about an hour of your time.
Similar to survey sites, you don’t need any experience to get started. You will usually need a good internet connection, headphones with a microphone, and occasionally a camera.
This online job isn't going to make you rich, but you can potentially make a few hundred per month if you combine these sites and build up your credibility.
4. Freelance Writer
If you enjoy writing, another easy online job from home that you can try is freelance writing.
I make money as a freelance writer and so does Tom. It's a flexible, fun online job, and it's also perfect if you want to make money with a laptop while traveling the world.
Now, becoming a freelance writer can take a bit of time to build up since it takes time to find clients. But it’s easily the most rewarding and highest paying job on this list.
But freelance writers often start at $0.05 to $0.07 per word in many niches. This means you can make $20 to $100+ per article depending on the length.
And as you improve your skills and get more clients, you can gradually raise your rates. Over time, this is how you can turn freelance writing into a serious side hustle or even full-time job with enough work.
Plus, writing can be done from anywhere, so you can travel and write like I do after landing enough clients.

5. Microtask Websites
Microtask websites are sites that pay you to complete repetitive tasks that can’t necessarily be automated by a computer. This is another type of easy online work you can do in your spare time to make a bit of extra money every month.
Examples of common microtask jobs include:
- Data entry
- AI training help
- Confirming online information
- Social media moderation and fact checking
- Search engine evaluation
- Image annotation
- Transcription
This type of work can be pretty competitive, which is the main downside. But again, it's a way to make money online without experience, and you can maintain a very flexible schedule.
Sites like Appen and Clickworker are two popular microtask websites you can sign up with to find work. Each site pays around $8 per hour for a lot of tasks, and you can find steady work.
Websites like Amazon MTurk are also a viable option, although this site pays a bit less than Clickworker or Appen, so keep this in mind.
Ultimately, each of these sites truly are unique and offer a wide range of different tasks, so I recommend giving them all a try to see what works best for you.
But the bottom line is that these sites can earn you a few hundred dollars per month if you stay consistent.
6. Data Entry Worker
Data entry is another type of easy online job that you can apply for. And even though this work is repetitive and not too glamorous, it can provide steady income without requiring prior experience.
Common responsibilities for a data entry worker include:
- Transferring data from paper to the computer
- Update customer account information
- Create and organize spreadsheets
- Organize information in certain categories
- Copy over information from online sources
A lot of these duties are essentially copy/paste type of work, but it’s one of the easiest online jobs for that exact reason. Data entry workers also make around $15-$20 per hour depending on the company and how difficult the tasks are.
You can find data entry jobs on sites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter to get started. And many of these jobs are phone-call free, so they're ideal for introvert.
I also made a YouTube video that shares five legitimate data entry gigs and companies you can apply to if you're curious.
Again, you won’t need any previous requirements for this job, but a bit of Excel knowledge might help with the higher paying ones.
7. Customer Service Agent
If you don't mind working with customers, another easy online job you can turn to are customer service agent jobs.
A customer service agent is essentially the person you call when you’re having a problem or need help with a certain product or service. Some typical duties for a customer service agent include:
- Answering questions about a product/service
- Processing orders and transactions
- Troubleshooting technical issues
- Collecting customer feedback
- Handling customer complaints
- Memorizing scripts for talking points
These jobs require zero experience, so they’re perfect for beginners because all of the training is done by the company that hires you.
There are customer service jobs that are in-house, but you’ll find that most of them offer remote positions. You can expect to earn anywhere between $13-$23 per hour with full-time and part-time options.
Pro tip: If you’re not a fan of handling customers over the phone, try finding jobs that offer text-to-chat services where you’re just typing to people.

8. Transcriptionist
Transcription work involves listening to audio recordings and transcribing (writing) them out. Transcription jobs also have a super low barrier to entry, so you shouldn’t have any problems getting hired.
You can look for work through online job boards, or you can join a transcriptionist website that sends you short audio files to transcribe to get paid.
Some of the most popular transcriptionist websites include:
The only downside to these sites is that the audio files you receive can be low quality, so it’s quite hard to hear what they’re saying. It also takes a long time to become a fast transcriptionist, so your starting hourly rate isn't too high.
Overall, starting pay through these sites isn't that high. You can earn around $150-$200 if you put in the work. But over time, you can increase your earnings if you become more efficient.
9. Call Centers
Similar to a customer service agent, a call center agent handles customers on the phone. And this is one of the easiest online jobs you can get if you have no experience but are good at customer service.
However, one of the biggest differences is that call center agents are usually the ones reaching out to the customers.
Some call center agent responsibilities include:
- Offering promotional deals to customers
- Pitching company products/services to people
- Handling product/service issues
- Following up with customers for sales
- Utilizing scripts to pitch ideas to clients
- Having an enthusiastic and trustworthy personality
Call center agents make around $15-$20 per hour according to Indeed, with most positions being full-time remote jobs. The average salary is around $45,000 per year for full-time agents, making it a consistent and reliable source of income.
If you feel like this is a more upbeat job for you, then definitely consider giving it a try. It’s a bit less stressful than customer service, but be ready to handle some serious rejection at times.
10. Online Tutor
Online tutoring is another easy online job that's also great if you have some previous teaching experience or are a retired teacher.
But even if you're new to teaching, this type of online job can be incredibly rewarding and fun. And, there are plenty of ways you can find work.
For example, if you’re good at Math or English and live in the United States, you can consider becoming an online tutor through BookNook.
This online tutoring gig pays between $15-$25 an hour as a tutor. Plus, being remote makes it possible to do things like teach and travel.
Some other excellent places to find online tutoring gigs include:
- Tutor.com
- Chegg
- Qkids
- Palfish
Certain sites specialize in certain subjects. For example, you might consider Chegg because you’re good at tutoring math and science. In contrast, Qkids is an online ESL tutoring platform.
You can pick one or two platforms that seem appealing and cater to subjects you know. And once you're a tutor, you can begin making money every week if you have a few regular students.
11. Proofreader
Like freelance writing, proofreading is another popular online job for beginners that's ideal if you enjoy reading and have a high level of attention to detail.
Publications, online businesses, and bloggers often pay proofreaders and editors to touch-up articles before they go live. As a proofreader, it's your responsibility to catch grammatical and spelling errors and to provide suggestions to improve content prior to final edits.
According to Indeed, proofreaders make about $25 per hour on average. And you don't need a degree or previous experience to apply to many proofreading gigs.
It can be tough to find your first clients if you go down the freelancing route. But Tom and I both know successful proofreaders who make money from this service as well as general editing and writing services.

12. Search Engine Evaluator
One final easy online job without experience that you can apply to is to become a search engine evaluator.
While it might surprise you, search engines break all the time and display results that don't make a lot of sense. And even though companies like Google use AI to fix a lot of these issues, it still pays human reviewers to check some results and find bugs.
Microtask sites like Appen and others often hire evaluators for this role. You can also find social media moderator jobs that are somewhat similar.
You're probably looking at $10 to $15 per hour for this type of online job. But you don't need any experience, and it's a flexible, potentially fun side hustle you can test out.
