What Is Cash Alarm?
Cash Alarm is a pay-to-play gaming app that's available for Android devices. The app pays you with PayPal money and free gift cards for downloading and playing sponsored mobile games.
Currently, Cash Alarm has over 5 million downloads and an average rating of 4.1 stars on the Google Play Store.
If you've ever used apps like Mistplay or Gamehag before, using the Cash Alarm app is quite simple.
You're basically getting paid to download and play new mobile games from Cash Alarm's partners. The more games you play and the longer you game for, the more rewards you earn.
Is Cash Alarm Legit?
Yes, Cash Alarm is legit and lets you earn PayPal cash and free gift cards in your spare time. The app also have over 10 million downloads and a 4.4 average star rating, with plenty of positive reviews from other gamers.
That said, when I tested out Cash Alarm, I wasn't too impressed by the game selection. And this app doesn't pay very much per hour either.
If you spend a lot of time gaming on your phone, Cash Alarm can be a fun side hustle. But don't expect to make $100 a day or anything even remotely close to that with this app.
How Does Cash Alarm Work?
I downloaded Cash Alarm to test it out for this review. Overall, the app is very simple to use, and it's extremely similar to other popular gaming reward apps.
Making money with Cash Alarm just takes five simple steps:
- Download the app
- Play Cash Alarm games
- Earn coins
- Refer your friends
- Cash out
Let's dive into each Cash Alarm feature in a bit more detail!
1. Download Cash Alarm
The first step in using Cash Alarm is to download the app from the Google Play Store. Cash Alarm isn't available for iOS, which is a downside. Currently, the app requires Android version 5.0 or higher.
If you have an iPhone, be sure to read our post on the best iOS games that pay instead!
Anyway, once you download the app, you create an account by logging in with Facebook or Gmail. From there, you enter your age and gender so Cash Alarm can match you with more relevant games.
Finally, you have to enable app usage tracking permissions for Cash Alarm in your settings.
This is the same process apps like Rewarded Play and Mistplay require, and it's completely normal, so don't be alarmed.
These gaming reward apps need to track how long you play partner games to pay you accordingly. So, you need to enable this tracking if you want to make money with Cash Alarm.
2. Play Cash Alarm Games
Once you download Cash Alarm and create your account, you can download different Cash Alarm games under the “Featured” tab.
How many games you have access to depends on where you live since Cash Alarm is a global get-paid-to app.
I'm in Canada at the moment, and right now, the only game in my Cash Alarm games list is Coin Master.
This is a pretty major drawback for Cash Alarm, although if you live in the United States, you should have much more game selection.
Other common Cash Alarm games you can play include:
- Angry Birds 2
- Bubble Cash
- Dragon City
- Guns of Glory
- Slotomania
Typically, game genres include strategy, card, simulator, puzzle, action, word games, and gambling games.
Again, this is pretty common for gaming reward apps, and you find similar game partners with apps like App Flame, AppStation, and a plethora of other pay-to-game apps.
3. Earn Cash Alarm Coins
Like other gaming apps, Cash Alarm pays you with coins for every minute you spend playing a game. For my app, I start by earning 69 Cash Alarm coins per minute that I play Coin Master.
However, the number of coins you earn per minute steadily decreases the more you play a game.
This is a common tactic gaming apps use to encourage you to try out more games. So, since Coin Master is the only game I can download, this app has a pretty low earning potential for me at the moment.
Note: You have to launch Cash Alarm games from the “My Apps” tab if you want to make money gaming!
This is because Cash Alarm needs to track when you start playing a partner game, so you can't just launch apps from your home screen like normal.
4. Refer Your Friends
Another way to earn rewards with Cash Alarm is to invite your friends to the app to earn referral bonuses.
The Cash Alarm referral program has two components:
- Your Rewards: Earn 25% of all the coins your referrals earn.
- Referral Rewards: People you refer earn 25% of all the coins you earn.
This is a pretty decent referral program in the world of beermoney apps, but again, the number of coins you earn per minute decreases the more you play a certain game.
5. Cash Out
Coins you earn deposit in your Cash Alarm account as you play games, so you don't have to wait for coins to appear. And in terms of rewards, Cash Alarm has two main options: PayPal money and gift cards.
In my area, I can only redeem PayPal money. And what I really like about Cash Alarm is that the minimum redemption amount is only 2,000 coins for $0.20 in PayPal cash.
Other PayPal rewards include:
- 2,000 coins for $0.20
- 3959 coins for $0.40
- 9701 coins for $1
- 18826 coins for $2
- 37275 coins for $4
- 55354 coins for $6
- 73067 coins for $8
Cash Alarm also has free gift card rewards in the United States. Usually, this includes Amazon gift cards, free Google Play credit, and even free Steam codes.
Overall, the low cash out requirement is a perk of Cash Alarm. However, as you can tell, you're not cashing out much money, so this isn't a get-rich-quick app or serious side hustle idea by any means.
Also note that you have to verify your ID and take a selfie to cash out, which some users, including myself, don't like.
How Much Does Cash Alarm Pay?
How much you make with Cash Alarm depends on how many games you download and how long you spend playing them. For average players, making $5 to $25 or so per month in extra income should be realistic with this app.
That said, when I tested out Cash Alarm, there weren't enough game apps for me to earn many coins before my coin-per-minute rate dropped very low.
And even if you're gaming in the United States, you have to shuffle between a lot of games to keep earning more coins.
If you're an avid gamer, this is fine since it's a fun side hustle and you can probably make a quick $20 or so per month if you put in a lot of hours.
But for a long-term, high-paying side hustle, you're better off looking elsewhere. I mean, gig apps like DoorDash and Instacart are going to pay way more than any gaming app like Cash Alarm ever can.
In short, Cash Alarm is only worth using if you enjoy playing mobile games and want to earn small amounts of PayPal money or gift cards in your spare time.
Other Cash Alarm Reviews
I tested out Cash Alarm for a day to learn how the app works and it see if it's legit. The app paid me with coins for trying new games, but I don't think it's one of the highest paying apps in the gaming space.
But another great way to tell if a reward app is worth it or not is to see what other users are saying. And this is where some recent app store reviews are very useful.
Here's what some other Cash Alarm reviews are saying on the Google Play Store:
- Mike L says: “It looks great when you open the app. Plenty of earning opportunities, decent UI. The problem is Cash Alarm only tracks your play sometimes and for many games not at all. I've tried closing and reopening the apps, but it doesn't help.”
- Ms T says: “Coins add up quickly in the beginning and the games are ok even though they are cash machine apps with ads. The deal breaker? ID verification AND 3D face mapping.”
- Dawn Fisher says: “I made tons of points as promised. The problem is collecting. This is a total waste of time! My payout has been ” in progress ” for almost 2 months. I've made several attempts to get help, with no response, (wasting more time).”
As you can see, recent Cash Alarm app reviews are quite negative. Users complain of difficulties cashing out, low earning potential, and the fact that you need to verify your identity to cash out.
These are common issues with many cash gaming apps. And I agree that Cash Alarm has pretty low income potential overall.
This Cash Alarm review from YouTuber Devine The Diving provides an excellent overview of the app.
In his review, Devin also explains how he dislikes the low hourly earning potential of Cash Alarm. But he also shows how he cashed out numerous times and that the app is legit.
Granted, the app still has plenty of positive reviews on the Google Play Store, and many people are happy with the low payout requirements.
The bottom line is that Cash Alarm is a way to make quick money, but you're not going to make hundreds of dollars a month with this gaming app.

The Cash Alarm app is safe as far as I can tell. It's listed on the Google Play Store, and I haven't found reports of Cash Alarm hacks or weird exploits causing problems with people's phones.

From other reviews I've read, Cash Alarm does pay out users, and there's payment proof online. But the app is very low paying, and it can take a while to redeem and receive rewards when you eventually cash out.
Final Thoughts
In my opinion, Cash Alarm is a legit money-making app that pays you rewards for playing games. And I found that the app is very easy to use after testing it out.
However, I don't think this app is worth using for most people.
For starters, gaming apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play pay more and have better games selection.
And, as mentioned, you can make way more money with jobs like DoorDash or by making money with Instacart versus these sorts of gaming apps.
That said, if you're already spending hours each week on mobile gaming, you might as well get paid for that time with apps like Cash Alarm.
I hope our Cash Alarm app review helps you make the right decision and decide if this gaming rewards app is right for you!
